Strathaven Army Cadets

Strathaven Army Cadets Strathaven Army Cadets meet Monday and Thursday evenings 18:45 to 21:15 at the Cadet Hall on Castle Street, Strathaven, ML10 6AN

For action and adventure, fun and friendship, the Army Cadet Force is hard to beat. With around 46,000 cadets (aged 12-18) and 8,500 adult volunteers in 1,700 locations in every corner of the United Kingdom, the ACF is one of the country’s largest voluntary youth organisations. It is also one of the oldest and celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2010. We welcome boys and girls from the age of 12 (

and in secondary school), of all abilities and backgrounds, and through a broad range of exciting, challenging, educational and adventurous activities, help them develop physically, mentally and socially. Some of our activities have a military theme, others have more of a community focus. Combining military and community activities in this way enables us to offer our 45,000 young people a unique blend of personal development opportunities, all designed to promote fun and friendship while also helping them prepare for success in their chosen path in life, whatever that might turn out to be.

Great to be out helping in the community. Glad we could be of help to you. Well done Strathaven Cadets, amazing young people.

Our Remembrance poppies have been collected and packed away for another year. We hope they brought some comfort and a place of quiet reflection. Our eternal thanks to the young people of Strathaven Army Cadets who were a huge help to us with putting up and taking down. They worked incredibly hard and displayed excellent teamwork abilities.

We are so looking forward to showing you our Christmas projects. Not one but three!! We have given ourselves a huge goal which is definitely go big or go home!! Keep your eyes peeled in December 🎄🎅🤶🎁👼🦰🍞🏠

Cadets and adult instructors from 1 Pl RSB have been assisting Strathaven Combat Crochet & Knitting Ninjas with their annual Remembrance decorations.
Every November, this immensely talented and creative group decorate Strathaven with 100s of hand-knitted and crocheted poppies, adding a beautiful and poignant touch of colour to the town.
The cadets have been proud and delighted to assist with this hard work.

Last weekend, Strathaven Army Cadets joined forces with Newmains Army Cadets to complete their sponsored walk raising money for Erskine veterans charity. They chose to do this themselves after hearing a presentation by Erskine earlier this year.

They completed an average of 4 laps (~15 miles) each of Strathclyde park, in combats and boots, which is amazing! They're now taking in their sponsor money for this amazing charity.

Tuesday 24th and Thursday 26th May 2022 - Cadets from detachments in Lanarkshire assisted St Andrew’s Hospice with their annual sponsored hill climb. Schools from across Lanarkshire take hundreds of pupils to walk up and down Tinto. Each of these pupils gets sponsored and the money raised goes to St Andrew’s Hospice.

St Andrew’s Hospice provide specialist palliative care to people living with life-limiting illnesses.
Central to their ethos and mission is, to provide support not only for the patients, but also for their loved ones and carers too.

The cadets play a vital role in acting as way markers to ensure everyone stays on the path. They provide motivation for those struggling when the hill seems too tough. They pick up all the litter that some carelessly leave behind.
They do all of this with great enthusiasm, not only to get a day off school, but to assist a worthwhile organisation. The selfless commitment these young people displayed was second to none. An absolute credit to their detachments, company, battalion and the ACF.

Well done and thank you to you all.

Look at what cadets have been up to this year. Detachment, Company and Battalion training is fully underway again. 🤩
