Yesterday evening both crews were called to a wood pile fire that had spread to a small wooded area in Eastrop, Highworth.

We welcomed FF Bygrave to the On-Call last week. Over the next 4 weeks Dillon will be taking part in some pre basic skills course learning on station. Dillon is already impressing the crew and I’m sure he’ll have a bright future ahead of him.

The On-Call were honing their pumping skills at Coate water last night. Using various combinations of lifting from open water with the major pump and light portable pump.

Tonight the On-Call welcomed Swindon Fire Station for some Aerial ladder platform support training. Some great views of Stratton too.

🔥🏃‍♂️ Station Charity Challenge 🏃‍♂️🔥

Crew Manager Timothy Burns will be taking on an incredible challenge on 13 June 2026, running 70 miles (113km) across Hadrian’s Wall — a race known as The Wall.

He will be running alongside his wife and brother in memory of their Mum, who sadly passed away from cancer in November 2025, raising vital funds for 'Children with Cancer UK' which was her chosen charity. ❤️

Last night the On-Call ran multiple quick scenarios around rescues. Here you can see us retrieving a car on its roof from a ditch, using a tirfor winch.

The On-Call teamed up with Ramsbury Fire Station for BA drills at Westlea Fire Station this evening. Lots of good learning working together.

The On-Call recently celebrated the festive period with their annual Christmas party. With that we announced the coveted Firefighter of the year award voted by the crew. This year’s deserved recipient was Warren Read. Warren has served Stratton selflessly for over 30 years and epitomises the dedication and attitude that is required to do this job. Congratulations Warren!
