🚨 Be aware of Direct Debit indemnity fraud 🚨

A tenant has recently lost more than £3,000 to a scam, so please take a moment to read this and protect yourself.

Scammers managed to access his bank account, reverse his rent payments and then trick him into sending the money to them.

These scams can feel very convincing, especially when money suddenly appears in your account. Some people panic and act quickly because they worry they shouldn’t have that much money in their account if they receive benefits. Scammers rely on that fear to pressure you into sending the money on.

Please remember there is nothing to be embarrassed about if this happens. These criminals are very skilled at making things seem urgent and legitimate.

How to stay safe:
- Never share your bank details with anyone who contacts you unexpectedly
- Check your bank account regularly
- If money suddenly appears in your account, do not send it to anyone
- If it sounds too good to be true, it is
- If something feels wrong or you feel rushed, stop and check with your bank

If you think you’ve been targeted, contact your bank immediately.

Proud? Us? Absolutely! 😊
Congratulations to Tenant Relationship Manager Michelle, who's made a positive difference to the lives of so many of our tenants 👏🩷

Frontline housing hero recognised at Royal reception ✨🫶👑

We're proud to share the news that Michelle Elliott, our Tenant Relationship Manager, has been honoured at a Royal reception at St James’s Palace for her work supporting some of the district’s most vulnerable residents.

Michelle has made a difference to many lives over her 25 years in housing. From arranging emergency accommodation for people facing homelessness during the pandemic, setting up a Tenant Support Fund for residents in financial crisis, to advocating for survivors of domestic abuse and anti-social behaviour and helping to shape our award-winning pet-friendly policies, her compassion has had a lasting impact across our communities.

Michelle said it was “an incredible honour” to meet housing professionals from across the country as well as the King and Queen, and that the event felt like a wonderful acknowledgement of the work the council’s housing teams do every day.

Head of Tenant Relationships, Stuart Pattison, said:
“Michelle has changed lives through her dedication and care. We are delighted to see her recognised.”

A huge congratulations to Michelle on this well-deserved moment 👏
