You may have heard that the Green Group on Stroud District Council has informed Stroud Labour that our informal cross-party cooperation arrangement is ending, and Labour will now be treated as a formal opposition group.

We’re sorry to see it end — we believe it served Stroud’s residents well. This wasn’t our decision, but we respect it and hold no grievance.

One thing doesn’t change: Labour will keep holding the administration to account and putting Stroud residents first. Our door remains open. 🟢🌹

🚂 Britain’s Railway Gets a Fresh New Look!

The first Great British Railways-branded train has been unveiled in Brighton — a bold red, white and blue livery marking a historic shift as services move into public ownership. From 31 May, Govia Thameslink Railway joins the publicly owned network, meaning around 8 in 10 passenger rail journeys will be on publicly owned services. A new era for British rail is here — putting passengers first! 🇬🇧

Red Light Danger at Stonehouse Crossing — Action Needed Now
Parents taking children to a local nursery are facing near-misses at a pedestrian crossing on Bristol Road, Stonehouse, where drivers are regularly jumping red lights. With no central refuge, limited crossing time, and lorries blocking the signals, families are at daily risk.
Labour Councillor Simon Macgregor is pushing Gloucestershire County Council to act on their agreed safety solution — residents want action, not just plans. How long must people wait? 🚦

🎶 Singing for the Lido 🎶
A community choir gathered outside Stroud District Council’s meeting last week to make the case for Stratford Park Lido — with words by Cllr Shelly Rider and Adam Horowitz.
It’s clear people feel strongly. The lido is one of only four spring-fed pools in the UK and the only one in the south west — unheated, fed by natural groundwater, and open to swimmers of all ages. Genuinely sustainable, in both environmental and social terms.
Stroud CLP supports the campaign to secure its future. More from Shelly: 🔗 https://www.stroudnewsandjournal.co.uk/news/26067627.stroud-lido-praised-eco-friendly-community-benefits/

No one should have to face hunger alone.

That’s why we’re asking people, if they can, to consider becoming a monthly supporter of Stroud District Foodbank.

Even £2, £5 or £10 a month helps us plan ahead so we can keep shelves stocked and support people consistently.

Monthly giving means:
💚 emergency food when it’s needed
💚 practical help for people in crisis
💚 support that lasts all year round

Together, monthly gifts build something powerful: a community where no one is left without help.

If monthly giving isn’t right for you, a one-off donation can still make a real difference, helping us respond quickly when people need support most 💚

Donate online at https://strouddistrict.foodbank.org.uk/give-help/donate-money or drop our office a line at [email protected]

Together, we can keep showing up for our community.
