Today I found this hairy caterpillar feeding on Reed Canary Grass. What a splendid creature! This is the larva of a moth called The Drinker. It tends to live in wetlands and flies from June to August.

Our Dawn Chorus event on Sunday yielded 30 bird species. Cuckoos were the star attractions with 3 flying or calling giving us great views through our new fieldscope. We warmed up with coffee and croissant and lots of friendly chat.

On Sir David Attenborough's birthday today we celebrated his long, influential life with a toast and flapjacks! Thanks Sir David for everything you've done to open our eyes to the intricate and awesome in God's creation.

Only 3 sleeps until our Dawn Chorus Walk on Sunday at 6am. A dry run yesterday gave us Lesser Whitethroat, Sedge Warbler and lots of Garden Warblers. So if you don't know your tweets from your warbles come and join us! Book up on Eventbrite and stay for coffee and a croissant afterwards.
