Hamnet has won numerous awards and left audiences around the world deeply moved. Now you can find out what the fuss is all about, as the film is being shown on the big screen in Sully next week.

On Wednesday, May 13, Sully Community Cinema will be showing this highly rated historical drama about William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes (Anne) Hathaway, and the love and grief surrounding their young son. Directed and co-written by Chloé Zhao, who won an Oscar for Nomadland, this hit film features Oscar winner Jessie Buckley (Wicked Little Letters, Taboo, Chernobyl), Normal People star and BAFTA winner Paul Mescal, and Oscar nominee Emily Watson (War Horse, The Theory of Everything). Based on the novel by Maggie O'Farrell and co-produced by Steven Spielberg, Hamnet won widespread praise from critics for the cast's acting and the emotional story, and it was nominated for eight Oscars, six Golden Globes, and 11 BAFTAs, plus many other honours.

Join us on Wednesday at the Old School on South Road to discover the power of Hamnet for yourself. Tickets at £5, which includes a free drink from our cash bar, will be available at the door from 7pm, and the film starts at 7.30pm. We look forward to seeing you for an evening of socialising with your Sully neighbours and a film that is sure to be remembered for many years to come.

The unique Peter Sellers will be remembered for many comic characters, but perhaps his most famous is the hilarious and hapless Inspector Clouseau. This week, you can see Sellers in action in what is often regarded as the funniest Clouseau film, free of charge.

As part of its Free Film Friday series, Sully Community Cinema is showing the highly rated comedy A Shot in the Dark on Friday afternoon at the Old School on South Road. Join us to see Clouseau assigned to a high-profile murder case where he falls - sometimes literally - for the prime suspect, Maria (played by Elke Sommer). As the body count begins to rise and chaos ensues, Clouseau discovers that there might be more to the innocent-looking Maria than meets the eye. Could he be wrong about her?

A Shot in the Dark (cert. PG) - directed by Blake Edwards, who was in charge of many of the Pink Panther films as well as Breakfast at Tiffany's - also stars George Sanders, Herbert Lom as Clouseau's increasingly frustrated boss, and Burt Kwouk as his devoted (and dangerous) manservant Kato.

Join us on Friday from 1.30pm for free tea and biscuits before the film starts at 2pm. Entrance is free, and we look forward to seeing you!

Elizabeth "Lee" Miller's colourful life took her from the world of high fashion in New York to photographing Londoners during the Blitz and one of the worst events of World War II, until she eventually found herself sitting in Hitler's bath. Now you can see her extraordinary story being recreated by Kate Winslet in the hit film Lee, which is coming to Sully's Old School on Wednesday.

This highly-rated and moving drama about a brave woman overcoming all kinds of obstacles to forge a new life for herself is being shown by Sully Community Cinema. It sees the Oscar-winning Winslet - who was nominated for several awards for playing Lee Miller - alongside Andy Samberg (The Roses), Alexander Skarsgård (Succession), and Andrea Riseborough (Made in Dagenham).
