🚔 TWO E-BIKES SEIZED DURING CITY CENTRE OPERATION 🚔

These two e-bikes are now off the streets following a joint operation by the SAIL Team, Community Safety Officers and Northumbria Police in Sunderland city centre.

The operation focused on tackling anti-social behaviour, criminality and the issues that matter most to residents, businesses and visitors. Through high-visibility patrols and partnership working, officers delivered a number of positive outcomes, including:

✅ Two e-bikes seized✅ One uninsured vehicle seized✅ Three Direction to Leave Notices issued✅ One stop and search conducted✅ Two emergency incidents attended, including one identified and reported by Community Safety Officers✅ One individual reported for summons for breaching a Community Protection Notice

Officers also carried out patrols across West Sunniside and around the Software Centre, engaging with businesses, residents and some of the individuals responsible for ongoing issues in the area.

The evening brought together partners from Northumbria Police, Nexus, Northern Rail and The Bridges, demonstrating how effective partnership working can make a real difference in keeping Sunderland safe, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.

A great team effort and another positive result for the city.

Not big. Not clever. Just damage. 🌱❌

🚨 Two incidents. Same outcome. 🚨

In the early hours of Sunday 26 May on Park Lane, a young person on a night out was seen pushing a newly planted tree back and forth - until it snapped. 🌳💔

Just days earlier, at 21:02 on Tuesday 28 April in Mowbray Park, another young person was seen swinging on a sapling in front of friends, causing similar damage. 🚫🌿

A quick moment of showing off - years of growth lost.
These trees are planted for everyone 🌍 - to improve our streets, parks, and environment for the future. They’re not built to be climbed, pulled, or used as props.

When they’re damaged, it’s not just a tree - it’s time, money, and community effort wasted. 💷

👀 Parents & carers: please check in on where young people are and what they’re doing. Small actions can have lasting consequences.

🤝 Let’s work together to look after our city - and the spaces we all share. 🌳
