Antony Mullen Councillor for Barnes, Sunderland (2018-2026).

I’m sorry to say that I have not been re-elected.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the last 8 years and I’m proud of the things that I have achieved on behalf of others.

However, I will no longer have access to my emails after today - so any outstanding casework I was dealing with will need to be forwarded to the new ward councillors.

Thank you to those who did vote for me and those who have supported me over my time as a councillor.

Please don’t feel bad for me. I am looking forward to making the transition from councillor to member of the public and telling somebody else about all of the stuff dumped in my back lane and letting THEM sort it!

👋 Today is polling day - and I’d be very grateful if residents of the new Tunstall & Humbledon Ward would vote for me, Adele and Lyall.

Ahead of this Thursday's Council election, I am pleased to have been endorsed by the Campaign to Save the National Glass Centre.

The group has endorsed candidates from all parties who it thinks can help save the NGC, if elected. I am very happy to be one of them.

In tomorrow’s Sunderland Echo, I set out the reasons to vote Conservative this Thursday.

✅ Cleaner, safer streets and smoother roads.

✅ Councillors you can rely on.

✅ The experience we bring that will safeguard you from the inevitable mistakes of the new administration.

Labour’s page has posed question to Reform, one of which suggests that the Barnes Park event that takes place each summer is a Labour achievement.

It isn’t.

It is funded by the cross-party West Area Committee and it continued to be funded when the Conservatives were the biggest party on that committee.

The current West Area councillors have already funded the event for 2026 - so it’ll go ahead this year regardless of who gets in power this time.
