Working together, we can achieve so much more for the people and communities we serve.

A huge thank you to Gentoo Group and everyone involved for their support and collaboration.

Our former tower blocks are being put to good use before they’re demolished.

We’re working with Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service to make the buildings available for firefighter training, giving crews a valuable place to practise and develop their skills.

It’s great to see the buildings continuing to serve a useful purpose and support the people who help keep our communities safe.

It's Friday, so let's celebrate a fantastic career as we say farewell to Jason Evans from Station Mike, who retires today after 25 years of dedicated service with Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service.

Over the last 25 years, Jason has shown unwavering commitment to serving our communities and supporting his colleagues, making a lasting impact along the way.

Thank you for your service, dedication and professionalism, Jason. Everyone at TWFRS wishes you a long, happy and well-deserved retirement.

🚒🤝 Working together to keep our communities safe.

Crews from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service and Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service recently came together at West Hartford Fire Station for joint training to strengthen how we work together at incidents across our neighbouring communities.

The day included familiarisation with appliances and equipment from both services, followed by a realistic two-vehicle RTC scenario involving a vehicle on its side.

By sharing skills, experience and operational knowledge, both services gained valuable insight into how we can provide a coordinated response when communities need us most.

Training exercises like this strengthen our resilience, improve emergency response and help ensure we're prepared for the challenges of the future. 🚒💪

Today, we were proud to support National Burns Awareness Day at the Major Regional Burns Treatment Centre at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, alongside our partners at The Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand to learn more about burns prevention, fire safety and the importance of having working smoke alarms in your home.

We enjoyed meeting so many people throughout the day. A special shoutout goes to Jaxon, aged nearly 2, who jumped at the chance to dress up as a firefighter and certainly looked the part! 👨‍🚒🚒

🚨 Fireworks Safety Reminder for Residents 🚨

If you're planning to buy fireworks this year, remember that there are strict legal limits on the quantity of fireworks that can be stored in a private home, the types of fireworks that may be kept, and the length of time they can be stored.

Even where fireworks are stored for personal use and a storage licence is not required, appropriate precautions must be taken to reduce the risk of fire and explosion. These requirements are set out in the Explosives Regulations 2014 and are designed to help keep households and communities safe.

⚠️ Only licensed commercial premises are permitted to store and sell fireworks. It is illegal for unlicensed domestic premises to store and sell fireworks.

❗ Any breaches of this legislation would constitute a criminal offence and may result in the enforcing authority seizing fireworks and pursuing a criminal prosecution.

🔎 Unannounced inspections may be carried out with partner agencies where concerns arise.

For your safety and the safety of others, always purchase fireworks from licensed retailers and ensure they are stored responsibly.
