Back on the Map is looking for a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator (18.5hrs per week) to support and develop our growing network of volunteers, helping local people to get involved, build skills and shape the future of their community.
In this hands-on and rewarding role, youโll lead on volunteer recruitment, support and development, ensuring our volunteers are safe, confident and thriving in their roles. Youโll work closely with residents and partners to create meaningful opportunities and ensure volunteering continues to be at the heart of everything we do.

The Volunteer Coordinator will lead the day-to-day delivery and development of Back on the Mapโs volunteer programme, supporting the recruitment, onboarding, training and ongoing engagement of volunteers. The role involves coordinating a wide range of volunteering activities, ensuring they are delivered safely, effectively and in line with organisational values and policies. You will work closely with residents, partners and colleagues to develop meaningful opportunities and strengthen community involvement.

The ability to motivate, support and recognise volunteers, helping them feel valued
and confident

Good organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate activities, manage records,
and prioritise tasks

A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to respond to changing needs in
the community
โ
An understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries (or willingness to
learn)
โ
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
โ
A belief in the importance of resident-led approaches and the value of volunteers
โ
Basic IT skills and confidence using digital tools for communication and
coordination
