Reminder: Household Recycling Centre Booking System Pilot ♻️

The online booking system pilot will be introduced at six Household Recycling Centres (HRCs), with bookings opening on 8 September and pre-booked visits commencing from 14 September.

The pilot will operate at various sites including

• Stanton St Quintin (Chippenham)

Residents using these sites will initially be able to book a 30-minute time slot up to one week in advance, with some same-day appointments also available. We will regularly review slot durations throughout the pilot to ensure sufficient site capacity is available.

The pilot is for data gathering purposes and has been introduced to:
• Reduce queuing at Household Recycling Centres
• Improve the overall customer experience
• Minimise disruption for nearby residents, communities and businesses

notice from SBPC

Many of you will have received a communication today (13th August 2026) from housing developer Charles Church regarding a proposed development for 70 homes on land off Sutton Lane (behind the Recreation Ground).

This is a ‘consultation’ - and not detailed or outline planning application. So, any views you want to share need to be submitted via the Charles Church website: https://landatsuttonlane.co.uk/

We know that this latest expression of interest in yet another large housing development will come as a shock and a disappointment to many of you. We are aware from recent planning applications what the general ‘feeling’ is about more housing. It is a frustration we share, both as Councillors and personally.

We want to assure you that as your Parish Council we will do all we can to represent your views and feelings.

But, we are also pragmatic, and we know that Wiltshire Council has a very large deficit in its housing targets. Large villages (such as Sutton Benger) are being targeted by developers - and unwanted growth is often the outcome.

However, there is plenty we can do to influence the final outcome, and we will work hard to do that on your behalf.

We urge you to review the document: (https://landatsuttonlane.co.uk/) and to comment if you choose to.

Make your voice heard.

SBPC.

Your Parish Councillors love nothing more than a solar eclipse that precedes their monthly meeting!

Shame it only happens once in a blue moon (pardon the pun!).

Fantastic pics of some of our PCs enjoying a spot of pre-meeting eclipse-gazing with SB residents on The Rec. Good fun, and some excellent improvised pin-hole cameras in use too!

Morning all. Here’s how to stay safe this evening if you want watch the solar eclipse. Enjoy.

🍺 Ladies/Gentlemen… your parish needs you!

🍺 The Beer & Sausage festival team is looking for volunteers to help with its big event on Saturday 5 September.

🍺 It’s the usual format: setting up Friday 4th from 1500 and on the Saturday morning. If you can do a 2 hour shift serving, or a stint on front of house between 12-2200 on the Saturday, the organisers can offer you 2 free tokens for either sausages or beer.

🍺 Plus if anyone is around on Sunday to help clear up - the team would appreciate it. Thanks.

🍺 Pls get in touch with Chris Pope if you’re able to help. If you don’t know Chris, drop me a line and I’ll put you in touch. 🌭
