Good Hope Hospital NHS Welcome to Good Hope Hospital, part of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB).

Good Hope Hospital serves North Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield and a large part of south east Staffordshire, including Burntwood, Lichfield and Tamworth. UHB also runs Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Solihull Hospital and Community Services and Birmingham Chest Clinic. The Trust also runs a number of smaller satellite units, enabling people to be treated as close to home as possible. A message from Cadent Gas - road closure outside The Bottle of Sack public house in Sutton town centre.

Cadent engineers will be carrying out emergency gas repair works following reports of a smell of gas from a member of the public. The works are essential to ensure the continued safety of the local community and the integrity of the gas network.

Work will begin on the evening of Wednesday 14 October and engineers will be working through the night to complete the repair as quickly as possible while minimising disruption to residents, businesses, and road users. Cadent is aiming to have the site fully cleared by Friday 16 October.

The repairs are being carried out in response to a reported gas escape and require immediate attention to ensure public safety. While every effort is being made to reduce the impact on the local community, some disruption is unavoidable during the works.

A Cadent spokesperson said: "Safety is always our top priority. Following a report of a smell of gas, our engineers need to carry out urgent repairs to the gas network on Birmingham Road. We understand these works will cause disruption, and we'd like to thank residents and road users for their patience while we complete this essential repair.

"To help minimise the impact on the local community, our teams will be working overnight to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible. These repairs are vital to keep the area safe and maintain a reliable gas supply for local homes and businesses."

Cadent apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks the community for its understanding while these urgent safety works are completed.’’

Please see map below, supplied by Cadent, which shows the road closure outside The Bottle of Sack as the red hatched area. The diversion will be down Holland Road, onto Upper Holland Road and around onto Queen Street to reach the roundabout next to Nando's.

This gentle and reflective service offers a safe space for anyone affected by baby loss to come together, honour the memory of their babies, and find comfort among others who understand. To mark the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week, families are also invited to take part in the Wave of Light on Thursday 15 October, lighting a candle in remembrance. University Hospitals Birmingham Charity has created a special online dedication page, Wave of Light, where families light a candle to commemorate their babies who sadly died too soon.

Tomorrow is World Mental Health Day, and this year we're shining a light on the importance of connection, support and looking after our wellbeing.

Meet Samantha Greaves-Smith, known as Sammi a Ward Clerk at Good Hope Hospital, who will celebrate an incredible 24 years working in maternity this October.

From welcoming patients and families to supporting clinical teams and keeping the ward running smoothly, Sammi’s work makes a real difference every day.

On her role Sammi said: β€œI love maternity. I love the baby side of it, the pregnancy side of it, and I love feeling like I’m involved in everything and a real part of the team.” πŸ’¬

As we continue with Admin Week, we are continuing to celebrate some of our brilliant administrative colleagues across UHB.

Meet Bradley and Aman, the team leads for UHB's Complex Discharge Team.

Bradley leads the team across Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and Good Hope Hospital while Aman leads the team at Solihull and Heartlands hospitals.

The Complex Discharge Team works with patients, families, healthcare professionals and community partners to help patients leave hospital safely when they are medically ready to do so. The team supports hundreds of patients each year to find the right place in the community, whether that's a care home, rehabilitation setting or support package at home.

Their work helps patients move on to the next stage of their recovery while ensuring hospital beds are available for those who need them most.

Bradley and Aman are incredibly proud of their team and the difference they make every day. By coordinating complex plans, bringing together multiple organisations and keeping patients at the centre of every decision, they help some of our most vulnerable patients get the support they need in the right place.
