Just a reminder that Mere Green Library's Thursday opening hours are now 10am-1pm and 2pm-6pm.

All other days remain unchanged.

Since the Summer Reading Challenge launched on 4th July, we have had nearly 700 children register to take part here at Mere Green Library.

The Challenge finishes on Saturday 12th September so there is still time for you to complete the challenge. feel free to borrow all six books at once so you have enough time to complete the six reviews. On completion children receive lots of goodies and will be invited to a celebration where they will be awarded a medal and certificate.

There were some beautiful, bright birds flying around the library for our last summer craft session on Friday! Thanks so much to all the fabulous crafters and to Sutton Coldfield Charitable Trust Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council for supporting & funding us, so we can deliver these wonderful activities’❤️

Our latest display in children's is all things Murdle Junior plus solve your own adventures, puzzle books etc with thanks to The Reading Agency and Profile Books.

A huge thank you to all of our young library visitors who joined this afternoon's 'Windchime' craft at the library! You all demonstrated patience and marvellous creativity! Such fabulous results!

Our thanks go to Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council and Sutton Coldfield Charitable Trust for their support which enables us to run these extremely popular summer arts and crafts sessions.

Literacy Champion, Shiloh, is into inventing and tinkering (taking things apart and putting them together again!) He has recommended Victor Appleton's 'Tom Swift and His Television Detector' to our Birmingham Go All In Book List, for other people who share his interest. Here's what Shiloh said:

"I think people with my hobby or interest will enjoy this particular book, as it explores the exciting invention of Tom Swift, an 18-year-old boy with a passion for inventing, as he invents a television detector, a machine that can see through walls. Each time I take apart a machine, I remember the way Tom Swift builds this television detector. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys inventing things or STEM activities, as Tom Swift, throughout the book, explains in extreme detail how he creates his inventions."

August Bank Holiday closure at Mere Green Library - we will be closed on Monday 31st August and will re-open as normal on Tuesday the 1st of September.

More fun was had at the library this afternoon! Young borrowers joined us to make fabulous colourful windchimes using plastic cups, paperclips, charms and beads! Thank you to everyone who joined us - you showed great patience and fine motor skills! You just need a bit of wind now!
