The current Green Lib Dem Independent coalition running Birmingham City Council have confirmed that they will continue with Labours policy of making Birmingham a 20mph City. We don't agree and many of our residents have already voiced their opposition to this "blanket" approach

The Green, Lib Dem, Independent coalition running Birmingham City Council have announced they will continue the Labour policy of making Birmingham the UK's first 20mph only city with the introduction of a blanket 20mph speed limit across the city.

There has been flash flooding across the City as a result of the deluge of rainwater. The reason for the flooding is down to existing drainage network not being able to handle the sheer volume all at once and is a Severn Trent issue.

Having had the honour of being Lord Mayor I know that you can't be in 2 places at the same time but sometimes it means that one gets called upon to stand in for the Lord Mayor. On Thursday I had that privilege and stood in for the Lord Mayor at the fabulous Athletics event currently going on in the City. Over 20000 people in the stadium all showing support for their countries stars of the track and field. I was also honoured to take part in the medal ceremony for the Woman's Steeplechase event. Great night, great atmosphere with Birmingham showing yet again why the City is famous for being friendly and welcoming.

Responding to a call to inspect an area of overgrown hawthorn hedge blocking a pavement and making it difficult to get past without going in the road, John and Ken were pleased to see it was a job they could quickly do so out came the loppers and snips. Job done!!

There are many things going on in and around Walmley and Minworth - some great - some not so great.
Unfortunately, as we have highlighted before, there are too many social media pages for us to monitor so please if you want to report any issues to us or ask us to assist please email us or message us directly as that way we won't miss anything. Please also note that the Police do not monitor social media pages either so again we would emphasise the need to log issues on 101 or via the WM Police website

This morning, Cllr John Perks met the team delivering the new bins across Walmley. He spoke with the crew to highlight the roads that were missed over the weekend and to ensure they were aware of the outstanding deliveries.
Unfortunately, the rollout of the new waste collection scheme has been far from smooth. Today, some parts of Walmley are expected to begin using the new bins, yet many residents are only receiving them today. This has understandably caused confusion and frustration.
Both John and Ken have been in regular contact with City Council Officers about the issues being experienced by residents and as City Councillors will be providing valuable information to scrutiny so that lessons are learnt from the chaotic events of the last few weeks.
