Please do your bit and help prevent wildfires! 🔥

All the warm weather has left the ground and vegetation tinder dry, meaning the risk of wildfires is high.

These fires often require significant firefighting resources that could otherwise be responding to life-threatening emergencies across Derbyshire.

Help your local crew and community by:
❌Not having garden fires. Visit your local authority website for details of how to dispose of rubbish.
🍔 Leave the BBQ at home and don't light campfires. These are banned in many areas of the Peak District.
🍾 Take all rubbish with you, especially glass bottles as they can magnify the suns rays on spark a fire

‼️Please only call 999 if there is an emergency or a fire producing significant smoke. We have had a high volume of calls to our 999 control room since yesterday evening. We understand residents may be concerned, but we are unable to respond to reports of neighbours having BBQs, bonfires or campfires in their gardens unless there is an emergency.

We support the Government's message on this and would strongly advise against having bonfires, fireworks, campfires or disposable BBQs during this period. Fires can spread quickly and become difficult to control, putting your home and neighbouring properties at risk.

Please come along to our Open Day tomorrow 🚒 we have some great stalls to buy from along with bouncy castles, slides, mini fire engine rides, face painter, ice cream, burgers, sweet stand and so much more. All monies raised goes to our Firefighters Charity 🚒🚒🚒🚒

Today we said a sad goodbye to Rozi who after 35 years working for EMAS has decided to retire and step down from her Paramedic Role. We will really miss you, don’t be a stranger to Swadlincote Fire Station 🚑🚒🚑🚒🚑🚒

Another great reason to visit our open day this Saturday along with fire engines, bouncy castle, slides, face painter, tombolla, raffle, crafts and so much more 🚒🚒🚒
