⚠️ Tick Warning in Dorset ⚠️

Ticks are very prevalent in Dorset at this time of year, especially in long grass, woodland, heathland and coastal paths. These tiny insects can carry diseases such as Lyme disease, so it’s important to stay vigilant when enjoying the outdoors.

βœ… Wear long sleeves and trousers when walking in grassy areas
βœ… Use insect repellent
βœ… Check yourself, children and pets thoroughly after walks
βœ… Remove ticks promptly and safely with a tick remover or fine tweezers

Stay safe and enjoy Dorset’s beautiful countryside responsibly 🌿

πŸ“’ Swanage Town Council Adopts Corporate Plan 2026–2030 πŸ“’

At the Annual Council Meeting on 11th May, Swanage Town Council officially adopted its Corporate Plan for 2026–2030, setting out a clear vision and priorities for the years ahead. It will help guide council decisions, budgets, investment, and funding bids through to 2030.

The plan has been built on strong community input. Earlier this year, we carried out extensive public consultation, including:

β€’ Consultation delivered to most households across Swanage
β€’ Online survey
β€’ Engagement events at The Mowlem
β€’ Local media and social media outreach

We received 214 responses and 594 comments, with all responses being considered when shaping the final plan.

🎯 Our Five Key Priorities (2026–2030) 🎯

β€’ Delivering Good Governance
β€’ Promoting Regenerative Tourism and Supporting the Local Economy
β€’ Encouraging Health & Wellbeing and Enhancing Community Safety
β€’ Planning for the Future and Preserving Our Heritage
β€’ Protecting the Natural Environment and Addressing the Climate Crisis

We’ll continue to work in partnership with local organisations, businesses, voluntary groups, Dorset Council, and other partners to deliver for the local community.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the creation of the Plan.
