📣🌳🏆 Beach Gardens Receives Green Flag Award for 2026/27! 🏆🌳📣

We are delighted to announce that Beach Gardens, Swanage has once again been awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award, recognising it as one of the UK's best-managed parks and green spaces.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Green Flag Award scheme, and the Town Council is proud to be receiving this internationally recognised quality mark.

The award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our Grounds Maintenance and Visitor Services teams, as well as the valued support of Swanage Tennis Club and Swanage Bowling Club, who help make Beach Gardens such a vibrant community space.

From 🎾 tennis and 🥎 bowls to ⛳ putting, 🏀 basketball, 🏓 table tennis, and beautiful landscaped gardens, Beach Gardens continues to provide a welcoming place for residents and visitors of all ages to enjoy. The popular 'Tea on the Green' café also remains a much-loved hub at the heart of the gardens ☕🍦🥤🌳🌳🌳

👋 Hello from Beach Gardens Sports Park! We hope you are all enjoying the putting green so far, it’s been lovely seeing new faces and old!

😎 Our summer opening hours are 9am - 5.30pm, 7 days a week.

⛳️ Last putting is 4.30pm.

🎾 Tennis courts are bookable from the kiosk or call us on 01929 424339

🏓🏀 Free to use outdoor table tennis table & basketball court (bats/balls available to hire from the kiosk)

Two more tennis courts at Swanage Tennis Club in Dorset, have been resurfaced with astro turf after the club raised £39,000 which includes a £15,000 contribution from Swanage Town Council

🎾 Tennis Courts Resurfaced with Astro Turf 🎾

Courts 4 and 5 at Swanage Beach Gardens Sports Park have now been fully resurfaced with astro turf. The improved surface will offer a better playing experience all year round and support the continued growth of tennis in Swanage.

Cllr Chris Tomes, Chairman of the Sport and Leisure Working Party, commented:
“We’re delighted to see Courts 4 and 5 newly resurfaced with modern astro turf, improving the quality and accessibility of tennis facilities for the whole community. The Council is proud to have contributed £15,000 toward this upgrade, and we look forward to seeing residents of all ages make the most of the improved courts. Enhancing local sporting opportunities plays an important role in supporting physical and mental wellbeing, particularly for children and young people, and these improvements will help ensure they have a safe, welcoming space to stay active. Our thanks go to the Tennis Club for their continued partnership and commitment to providing excellent sporting opportunities in Swanage.”

Liz Le Fevre, Swanage Tennis Club Committee Member, added:
“The Tennis Club were very pleased to see the old tarmac tennis courts numbers 4 and 5 resurfaced with new astro turf at the weekend. It means that all 5 courts owned by the Council and used by Swanage Tennis Club and members of the public now have astro turf surfaces. The members of the club were really delighted with the new surface which drains well, is less slippery in wet conditions and dries out quickly. The artificial grass means that play can happen even in the winter. The surface reduces stress on the ankles, knees and hips and if a player does fall over, they have a much softer landing. The Tennis Club wish to thank Swanage Town Council for all their help with this project.”
