A Huge Thank You

On behalf of our community, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Neal from WP Everingham & Sons Ltd for their excellent work cleaning and restoring our war memorial.

Their time, effort, and professionalism have helped preserve this important monument, ensuring it remains a fitting tribute to the brave men and women it commemorates. The memorial now looks refreshed and well cared for, allowing future generations to continue reflecting on the sacrifices it represents.

Closing date 23rd August. Please e mail clerk if you wish to be considered.

Have you noticed?

Swanland Village pond fence has been freshly painted by Martin Clarkson, a local painter of 41 years who has carried out other jobs in the village. The fence now looks vibrant and highlights our beloved local spot. Thank you Martin!🙏

Keeping this area looking pristine requires ongoing care. From clearing the reeds, regular gardening, watering the plants, litter picking and protecting the wildlife.

Thanks to all the volunteers and local groups who continue to look after our village your hard work never goes unnoticed! ❤️

If you can spare a few hours, please send us a message, no experience is needed just a willingness to get stuck in, meet your neighbours, and make a difference!

Swanland Parish Council are delighted to advise that the consultation survey is now open https://consultation.eastriding.gov.uk/s/SwanlandPlayingFieldFacility/
for the enhancements to the Playing fields.

A lot of work has gone into this from many people so far, so please do spend a few minutes to complete and also encourage your friends and family to do the same.

It is hoped that this will encourage usage of the playing fields 7 days a week from all generations. It would be great to see the area become more of a community park.

We have been notified that a male duck on the pond has a white plastic ring pull or cable tie around its lower bill. Swanland Pond Partnership have been to have and look and would like to ensure residents the tie is loose enough to move around but not loose enough to come off. Reassuringly, the duck looks well and can eat and drink ok as it can open and close its bill. He’s guarding a female, so his behaviour is normal too. The plastic ring is clearly an irritation to him though as he’s trying to shake it off.

Swanland Parish Council would like to thank East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Swanland Pond Partnership for being flexible and cooperative in helping make sure the 3 drains around the pond were cleaned this morning. It’s reassuring to know that we can rely on such dedication when issues arise, and your efforts are truly appreciated by all of us.

Thank you once again for your support and commitment to keeping our village well‑maintained.
