If you are buying your child a calculator to return to school, please consider getting them a Casio fx-83GT CW +! Currently on offer in Tesco or Amazon, (possibly more places, we just haven't had opportunity to check!). These are the newer version of the calculators we use in exams if your child forgets/misplaces/breaks theirs. They will find it easier to learn on one type of calculator during their school life so is definitely worth the investment :)

We are looking forward to seeing ALL our pupils next week on Thursday 3rd September as Monday 31st August is a bank holiday, staff will be back in on Tuesday and Wednesday for INSET (training days). This means our reception will be manned and all staff will be back on site, but they will still be incredibly busy in meetings and intense training so you may not be able to get hold of them by calling. A friendly reminder that we look forward to seeing all pupils on Thursday 3rd September 2026. Staff will be outside (weather permitting, if weather does not permit, contingencies will be made) to welcome pupils new and old, telling people where they need to be at the start of the day :)

Today at Birchgrove Comprehensive, we threw open our doors to welcome our Year 11 leavers, along with our Year 10 cohort (and a few Year 9 pupils), to collect their long-awaited exam results!

For some pupils, today marked the end of their chapter with us and the beginning of an exciting new journey elsewhere. For others, it marked the start of things to come!

A very busy few hours ensued, and we are incredibly thankful to all the staff who came along to support, encourage and congratulate our pupils.

We are even more grateful to all the parents and carers who brought their understandably fraught, excited and anxious children in, waited patiently, and supported them as we chatted about their next steps, what their results meant, or simply allowed them to bask in their achievements with their friends. ❤️ There were plenty of smiles, celebrations, nerves, hugs and proud moments throughout the morning.
