📟 09/08/2026 - multi agency response alongside Lymington Coastguard Rescue TeamHamble LifeboatHampshire & Isle of Wight ConstabularyHampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust to a person in Southampton water. Coastguard Water and Mud Rescue technicians deployed to ensure a safe outcome.
At just after midnight last night, Hamble Lifeboat was paged to assist a person in the water. That call marked our 100th callout of the year.
100 callouts by the beginning of August is a remarkable achievement - although it’s not a number we celebrate. Every one represents someone who has needed help on the water, and the worry and distress that comes with it.
What we can be incredibly proud of is the response.
The volunteers who give their time and are ready to answer the pager, whatever the hour. The professional crews and emergency services we work alongside. And the teamwork that allows us to get out on the water and help people when they need it most.
To have already responded to 100 incidents this year shows just how much our crew has been called upon. And, importantly, how many people have been there to answer that call.
Last night’s job had a good outcome, and as we headed back to the station at around 1:30am, this was the view.
100 callouts. A huge amount of work from an incredible group of volunteers.
And it’s only August.
