The Parish Council is pleased to announce the successful twinning of our allotment gardens with a rural community garden in Africa.

The idea was first presented by pupils from St. Luke's Primary School, who attended a recent Council meeting to share their vision of building a connection between local growers and a community overseas.

Councillors were impressed by the pupils' enthusiasm and thoughtful presentation and agreed to support the project.

This week we’re proud to celebrate Local Council Clerk Week 2026
A special thank you goes to Katie Walding, Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) for Sway Parish Council since 2017. She holds the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) and is a Principal of the Society of Local Council Clerks, demonstrating her commitment to maintaining high standards in local council administration.
Katie’s dedication, care, and genuine passion make a real difference every day—ensuring the council runs smoothly and continues to serve the community effectively.
Katie has also worked incredibly hard to create the council’s very first Apprentice Clerk role—a forward-thinking initiative that is now close to reaching a major milestone. Her efforts are about to pay off as Estela comes to the end of her apprenticeship and prepares to qualify, having completed her ILCA training as part of her journey into the profession.

You may be aware that by January 2027, the UK's old copper phone network will be switched off. For older or vulnerable residents, particularly those with telecare alarms or no mobile phone, it can be confusing and potentially risky if they're not prepared in time.

These changes will affect everyone who has or relies on a home phone, particularly for a telecare alarm, medical device, or burglar alarm. With less than a year to go before the switchover, ignoring provider messages mean the services you rely on may be disrupted. It’s important to take action when BT, Virgin Media O2 or your landline provider, like TalkTalk, Sky, Zen, EE, PlusNet or any other provider contacts you, or even better – DO NOT wait to be contacted and instead contact your provider today. For most, it’s as simple as plugging your phone into your router instead of the wall socket.

Don't put off switching and make sure you and your loved ones are supported throughout the process.

Many residents will be aware that there is currently a small unauthorised encampment on Jubilee Field.

The Parish Council is working closely with Hampshire Police and New Forest District Council, who are aware of the situation and are carrying out the appropriate procedures.

The good news is that, so far, there has been no damage to the field or facilities, and the football pitch remains in good condition.

For now, the best approach is simply to carry on as normal.

Please continue to use the field and facilities as usual, be courteous to everyone on site, and avoid any unnecessary interaction or confrontation.

If you do see any damage or behaviour that causes concern, please let the Parish Council know.
