So sad that Gary broke his word and did a deal with Reform. Twenty votes where the Conservatives and Reform voted together…

Will this be a sign of things to come?

Sad to see new Swindon Borough Council Conservative leader Gary Sumner go back on his comments from just two weeks ago. He categorically ruled out a deal with Reform UK at the Election count, but they voted together over 20 times today.

23 Tories and 14 Reform UK. A back door deal.

Also disappointing to see the vote as the chair of the Build A Better Swindon committee.

All aboard! 🚅🚆🚉

It was great to see GWR's new daily two-hourly direct rail service between Swindon and Oxford departing the platform today.

The new service, which will also run on Saturdays, has been reintroduced following a 20-year absence and follows a successful campaign by the Council and neighbouring local authorities in Oxfordshire.

We hope that if the service proves popular trains will run every hour.

Evidence gathered by England's Economic Heartland demonstrates that improved east–west connectivity along the Swindon to Oxford corridor would deliver substantial economic, environmental and social benefits by strengthening labour mobility, supporting innovation, and reducing car dependency.

A strengthened Swindon-Oxford link would form a cornerstone of a future Thames Valley transport strategy, aligning with wider ambitions for greater regional coordination and devolved transport powers.

Congratulations to all our Labour and Co-operative councillors who have won seats on new boundaries in very challenging political circumstances. Thank you to everyone who stood as a Labour and co-operative candidate in Swindon, it’s never easy to put yourself out there and this campaign has been particularly difficult - you have been a credit to yourselves and the party.

Unfortunately yesterday we lost some excellent councillors from our team who will be sorely missed.

We are proud of the positive changes we managed to deliver for Swindon at the Council during our time in control, and we will now work to make sure these aren’t lost and the Council can work despite having no overall control.

Huge thanks to everyone who did vote Labour.

There's still time to stop Reform from taking control of our council, pop by the polling station on your way home from work.
