It may not look like much, but this is what's left of a medieval Preaching Cross, in St Mary's churchyard in Purton. As winter approaches, the Grounds team have covered the Cross in a custom-made conservation cosy. The Parish Council has applied for a conservation grant in recognition of the Cross's status as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

The Council is applying for more money to fund the preservation of the Cross, so watch this space!
