On Friday we said a fond farewell to our Year 11 students during a memorable Leavers Event.

We started with a special assembly, where students were taken on a journey through their school years. Sharing adorable Year 7 photos to achievements and experiences at KS3 and KS4, produced plenty of smiles, laughter and a fair few tears!

Students received a range of prizes including sweets, study packs and vouchers, with huge excitement being created by the top prize of a free Prom ticket.

One of the most emotional moments came when 11P1 surprised Mr Duncan with a very special personalised message from his idol, Coyote Peterson. It was a thoughtful gesture that clearly meant a great deal.

Students then took to the stage for a karaoke session during breaktime.

After break, students gathered on the field for more prizes, shirt signing, group photos and final goodbyes. We also took the opportunity to say farewell to Mr Bray and thank him for everything he has contributed to our school community.

Mrs Lister said: "We are incredibly proud of how impeccably Year 11 conducted themselves throughout the event. They represented themselves and the school brilliantly, and it was wonderful to see everyone celebrating together so positively.

Year 11, you will be greatly missed. We wish each and every one of you the very best for the future and look forward to hearing about all your successes in the years ahead."

Yesterday, our wonderful Teaching Assistant, Sarah Burton, visited Buckingham Palace for the 70th anniversary of Duke of Edinburgh Award. A representative from each of the participating schools and colleges were invited to attend - that's 6000 people over two days worth of celebration. The garden party included tea and cake and presentations from several speakers, including Gareth Malone OBE (who Sarah met!), Sam Thompson, Chloe Chong, Kate Garraway MBE, Corinna Brown and Hayley McQueen. Mrs Burton said: "It was a lovely day, although a little chilly for a garden party! It was great to walk around the palace's gardens (incidentally who participate in 'no mow May!) and meet other DofE staff from other schools around the country."

Year 7 French students have also been enjoying the cafe experience, which is excellent preparation for our upcoming French trip to Boulogne in June, where Year 7 students will have the opportunity to use their language skills in real-life scenarios. Ms Picquart added: “Bravo to all the students for their enthusiasm and hard work - we are very proud of you!”

This term, our Year 8 students have been learning all about French food and how to order it confidently. To finish the topic, Ms Picquart’s class celebrated with a French breakfast together! “Students enjoyed a selection of pain au chocolat, brioche, croissants, and baguette with jam. The challenge? Everything had to be ordered in French using “je voudrais…” (I would like…) and the students rose to it brilliantly. It was a fantastic way to bring learning to life, with great energy, enthusiasm and engagement from all involved. A lovely way to end the term. Well done Year 8!”
