π³ Update on Caterpillar Activity at Lyddon Way π
You may have noticed web-like coverings and leaf damage on two trees at Lyddon Way. This is caused by ermine moth caterpillars β and while it may look unusual, itβs completely harmless to people, pets, and the environment.
This is a natural and temporary process, and the trees are expected to recover fully once the caterpillars have completed this stage of their lifecycle. π±
Our Parks & Open Spaces Team has been closely monitoring the situation and adjusting maintenance schedules to support local biodiversity. As part of this, grass cutting around the affected trees will be paused temporarily.
π We kindly ask residents to leave the nests undisturbed and help support this important seasonal wildlife activity.
Cllr Leigh Jackson, Chair of the Parks & Open Spaces Committee, said:
"While the webbing may look unusual, itβs a great example of biodiversity in action, and weβre pleased to support this natural process while continuing to care for our public spaces."
Thank you for your understanding and support π
