Great to be out in Wanborough today with plenty of help, delivering our letter to residents explaining how to object to the application to build 275 houses on Inlands Farm, which forms part of the ‘green belt’ between Wanborough and urban Swindon. Please object, and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need our help!

A warning that a couple of homes have been burgled in the last day or so in Wanborough.

They appear to have targeted homes where the residents were away.

Please keep an eye out for any strangers approaching homes or seeming out of place.

Please report any concerns to the police.

If possible leave a light or two on with timers.

The fight over Inlands Farm is not over.

An appeal has been lodged against the Council’s refusal of plans for up to 275 homes at Inlands Farm, Wanborough. The proposal will now go before a public inquiry.

We stood against this development because our villages deserve better than speculative applications that put pressure on local infrastructure and erode their rural character. The developer’s decision to appeal does not change our position.

As your Conservative councillors, we will continue to stand up for our communities and support the defence of the Council’s decision.

Existing representations will be passed to the Planning Inspectorate. If you would like to add further comments, please submit them by 19th of November, quoting appeal reference 6015853.

Timings for road closures for the Half Marathon on Sunday:

To ensure the safety of competitors, spectators, and road users, temporary road closures will be in operation on the following roads. The times shown below indicate the approximate period during which each route will be affected:

• A4259 Marlborough Road at Coate Roundabout: 08:58 to 09:15
• B4006 Dorcan Way (southbound between Coate Roundabout and Kingfisher Drive Roundabout): 08:30 to 09:40
• Kingfisher Drive: 08:30 to 09:50
• Merlin Way / Wanborough Road (between Kingfisher Drive and Burycroft): 08:30 to 10:10
• Burycroft and The Marsh: 08:30 to 10:30
• Pack Hill and Church Road (between Pack Hill and Ham Road): 08:30 to 10:45
• Ham Road (between Church Road and King Edward's Road) and King Edward's Road: 08:30 to 11:10
• The Ridgeway (between Callas Hill and A346 Marlborough Road) and Aldbourne Road: 08:30 to 11:45
• B4192 Liddington Hill at Liddington Crossroads, Badbury Lane and Medbourne Road: 08:30 to 12:00
• Medbourne Lane, Meadow Way and Homington Avenue (at Day House Lane crossroads): 08:30 to 12:15
• Day House Lane: 08:30 to 12:30

All affected roads will be reopened as soon as runners have passed through and it is safe to do so. Access for residents will be maintained wherever possible; however, there may be short delays while participants pass through certain locations.

Between 09:00 and 09:15, runners will cross Marlborough Road and Queens Drive (A4259/B4006) near Coate Water. Traffic will be held temporarily and released once there is a safe gap in the runners.

NEPAL FLOOD VICTIMS VIGIL 🇳🇵

Following the devastation caused by flash floods in Nepal, hundreds of people have lost their lives, thousands are injured or missing, and entire villages and livelihoods destroyed. The Nepalese community in Swindon has been a rock of support to communities in Nepal. We stand fully behind our Nepalese community here in offering support and prayers to those affected by these floods.

As Councillors, we were invited by Nepalese Association of Wiltshire - NAW to a candlelit vigil yesterday at Wharf Green in the Town Centre. Community leaders and Nepalese MPs gave words of support, and the community in attendance lit candles for the victims of the floods.

We encourage everyone to support charities providing much needed assistance to those in Nepal and Tibet during this time.

Junction 15 this morning:

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "A lorry has overturned on Junction 15 eastbound of the M4 this morning.

"We were called to the incident at approximately 7.15am.

"The A346 between Marlborough and the M4 is currently closed, as well as the eastbound slip road at Junction 15.

"Please avoid the area and seek an alternative route this morning."
