🌱 Another bumper year for Crop Drop! 🥕🥬🍅

A huge thank you to our allotmenteers who have once again generously donated surplus fruit and vegetables through the Council’s Crop Drop programme.

This year has seen another fantastic amount of fresh, locally grown produce donated from across our allotment sites, helping to support:

🥕 Gorse Hill Baptist Church
🥦 Swindon Night Shelter
🍅 The Salvation Army

It’s a brilliant example of our allotment community coming together to reduce food waste and make sure good-quality, fresh produce goes to local organisations supporting people across Swindon.

A big thank you to everyone who has grown, picked and donated produce this year – your generosity really does make a difference. 💚🌻

Huge thanks to Lucy and the team at AblHealth , who volunteered to help us clear back the encroachment along the Venny footpath today.

This really does make a big difference to pedestrians and cyclists using the track.

On the 23rd August my office and the Central Swindon North Parish will be hosting a cultural festival at Moredon Sporting Hub from 12 - 5pm.

It's going to be a fun day of activities and celebrating the variety of cultures and activities that go on in Swindon North, so come along!

We've still got a few slots open for cultural groups, businesses or charities so if you know one or want to get involved yourself do contact me at [email protected] whilst slots last!

⚽☀️ When even football needs rain ☔️

The prolonged dry weather is causing problems for our grassroots football, with hard pitches likely to delay the start of the season.

Our Operations Manager and others in Wiltshire discuss the impact it’s having locally and, importantly, what happens now?. 👇

The rugby season is being delayed for safety reasons and there are fears football may follow suit.

⚽ Football season is nearly here.

The hot weather is creating real challenges for our pitches, but we’ll do all we can to get the season started as soon as it’s safe to do so.

📺 BBC West joined the Clerk & Operations Manager last week to hear about those challenges and the importance of grassroots sport to our parish.

We’ll be in touch with clubs over the coming days.

💪🏼NEW OUTDOOR GYM! Ferndale Recreation Ground located North of Great Western Way now hosts an Outdoor Gym! It’s been VERY well used over the Summer Holidays.
