We are pleased to report that we have secured closure orders for Kubus Polski Sklep and the adjoining residential properties in Manchester Road following Monday’s successful warrant.

The orders will be in place for three months, the maximum currently allowed by law, and means nobody but the people named on the order can enter the store and the adjoining flats.

The closure orders were granted by the court after Monday’s warrant, during which £15,000 of illicit to***co was seized from a residential premises above the store and a linked vehicle.

Two people who were arrested have since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Swindon Central South Neighbourhood officer PC Kash Hamid said: “We are pleased that the court has granted the closure order today.

“This means both premises will remain closed until at least September, with a potential extension if there are grounds to do so, and any unauthorised entry during this period constitutes a criminal offence.

“Our teams will continue to patrol regularly in the area to ensure full compliance with the order.

“It remains vital that the public continues to report any concerns or information they have regarding suspected counterfeit or illicit goods.

“This allows us to utilise all available legal powers and we will continue to take effective and robust action to disrupt and eliminate this type of offending.”

We have seized thousand pounds worth of illicit to***co and arrested two people following a warrant in Broadgreen on Monday (15/06).

On Monday afternoon, officers, with the support of Trading Standards, HMRC and Southwest K9 Detectives, executed a warrant at Kubus Polski and the adjoining residential properties in Manchester Road.

Two men were arrested – one of whom attempted to flee from an upstairs window.

Around £5,500 worth of illegal to***co and ci******es was located and seized. A car linked to the premises was also seized and was found to contain around £10,000 of illicit to***co.

The warrant took place during Neighbourhood policing week of action, which highlights the vital role neighbourhood policing plays in keeping our communities safe.

Sergeant Winter of the Swindon Central South NPT said: “This warrant followed intelligence that potentially dangerous illicit to***co and vapes were again being sold at the store.

“As we have repeatedly said, these are a significant health risk due to the lack of quality control, meaning they potentially contain higher levels of harmful substances, as well as banned chemicals

“The sale of illicit to***co and vapes is also often linked to the exploitation of children, people trafficking and illegal working.

“We will continue to take enforcement action to ensure there is no place for this type of organised crime in Swindon.”

Councillor Matt Hinton, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Engagement, Safety and Services, said: “I’m really pleased our Trading Standards team were able to support Wiltshire Police colleagues with this operation to take a significant quantity of illicit to***co off our streets.

“Illicit to***co is often linked to organised crime and has a harmful impact on our communities, undermining legitimate businesses and funding wider criminal activity."

We are appealing for witnesses and information following an incident in which a teenage girl was touched inappropriately while on a bus travelling through the Rodbourne area of Swindon.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of 11 May on the Number 5 bus.

Officers are looking to identify a male described as white, of average build, and aged between 60 and 70 years old. At the time of the incident, he was seen wearing a beanie hat, a face mask, a red puffer-style coat, black jogging bottoms, and black trainers.

A Swindon man who poses a significant risk to vulnerable s*x workers has been jailed.

Sean Morris, 59, of Massinger Walk, Walcot, appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 13 June, where he pleaded guilty to breaching his s*xual risk order (SRO).

Morris has been subject to an SRO since 16 February 2023. He was arrested in August last year after breaching the terms of that order. On 12 June this year, he was arrested again for further breaches of his bail conditions. He was charged and remanded in custody ahead of his court appearance the following day.

On Saturday, he was sentenced to 20 weeks’ imprisonment, placed on the S*x Offenders Register for seven years, and ordered to pay a £154 victim surcharge.

PC Katie Owers said: “Morris has repeatedly shown that he is unwilling to comply with the strict conditions put in place to protect vulnerable people. His behaviour poses a clear risk to s*x workers in our community, and the court’s decision to impose a custodial sentence reflects the seriousness of his continued offending.

“We will continue to take robust action against anyone who breaches S*xual Risk Orders, and we hope this sentence provides reassurance to those who may be affected by his actions.”

A Swindon man who crashed his vehicle in front of a police officer before driving off has appeared in court.

Jordan Osbourne-Oreilly, 32, of Ely Close, Toothill, Swindon, has been given a 12-month driving disqualification after pleading guilty to drink driving.

At 9.10am on May 17, one of our officers witnessed a three-vehicle collision on London Road in Marlborough whilst dealing with an unrelated matter at the roadside.

Osbourne-Oreilly was driving a Renault Megane which left the scene despite being instructed to remain by police. The vehicle was later sighted being driven along the Great Western Way in Swindon and was stopped in Ely Close where Osbourne-Oreilly was detained. He failed a roadside breath test and was arrested.

Osbourne-Oreilly appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on June 11 – as well as the driving disqualification, he was ordered to pay £133 surcharge, a £333 fine and £85 CPS costs.
