🤝 Working together to keep Swindon town centre safe 🤝
Statement from Inspector David Tippetts
I welcomed the opportunity to meet with businesses, community organisations and partner agencies to discuss the ongoing work to make Swindon town centre a safer and more welcoming place.
Business crime and anti-social behaviour remain the main issues we face in the town centre. Our dedicated Town Centre Neighbourhood Team, made up of a sergeant, five police officers and two PCSOs, continues to tackle these concerns through visible patrols, proactive enforcement and engagement with the community.
Despite the demands of responding to major incidents and investigations over the past year, the team remains focused on addressing the issues that matter most to businesses, residents and visitors.
Partnership working is vital. By sharing intelligence and working closely with Swindon Borough Council, support services and local businesses, we can better target offenders, reduce reoffending, support vulnerable people and reduce anti-social behaviour. This includes enforcement of the town centre Public Space Protection Order, the use of Criminal Behaviour Orders and Closure Orders, and preparations for the introduction of Respect Orders later this year.
