๐Ÿ›UPDATE ON COATE WATER SPLASH PARK ๐Ÿ’ฆ

"I am delighted to share the Coate Water Splash Park is open to the public from tomorrow (29th May)."

"I want to thank Swindon Borough Council officers and the Rangers Team at Coate Water for their work getting this opened ahead of previously scheduled. We have taken on board feedback that the Splash Park should have been opened last weekend to coincide with the Bank Holiday, and working with officers we were determined to get all the neccesary water quality tests done to reopen with this half term."

Matthew Vallender is the new Cabinet Member for Culture, Planning and Regeneration. He is also the Councillor for South Marston.

โ€œIโ€™m very pleased to have been appointed as the new Cabinet Member for Culture, Planning and Regeneration at Swindon Borough Council.

Itโ€™s a wide-ranging portfolio covering our town centre, culture and heritage assets, planning and planning enforcement, leisure and sport, and Swindonโ€™s nighttime economy - all areas that play a major role in shaping pride in our town and confidence in its future.

There is a long list of important issues we need to tackle, including the Oasis, Highworth Golf Course, the Mechanics, the Speedway Stadium and the new entertainment venue, among many others. Iโ€™m looking forward to working constructively with officers, local organisations, businesses and community action groups as we find pragmatic ways forward and deliver real progress for Swindon.

My professional background is in planning consultancy, and I look forward to bringing that experience to the role as we work to unlock regeneration, support investment and protect the character and identity of our communities.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m delighted to be taking on the role of Cabinet Member for Community Engagement, Safety and Services at Swindon Borough Council.

My top priority is making sure residents can get hold of the right people at the council when they need to, and making those interactions as simple and straightforward as possible.

Vinay Manro is the new Cabinet Member for Adults & Health, as well as the Councillor for Priory Vale. ๐Ÿง“๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘ต๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿฟ

โ€œI am pleased to have taken on the role of Cabinet Member for Adults and Health at Swindon Borough Council.

This is one of the councilโ€™s most important responsibilities. It supports residents at some of the most difficult points in their lives, and it must deliver better outcomes now and into the future.

I bring experience from working with residents of all ages through both the parish council and borough council, alongside listening to the challenges many families face across Swindon.

There are real pressures across adult social care and health services. That means we must be compassionate, clear about priorities, and focused on making every pound work harder for residents.

My focus will be simple: better outcomes, responsible decisions, and services that support people to live with dignity, independence and confidence.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s a privilege to have been asked to be the Cabinet Member for Housing and Property.

I believe everyone deserves a safe place to live and my priorities for Housing are to ensure all council housing meets necessary legal standards, to provide suitable housing for our armed forces veterans, and to work with colleagues in education to create an apprenticeship scheme so we can create jobs and ensure the tradespeople of the future are made in Swindon.

I will also use my skills and experience from my career background as a Commercial Surveyor to ensure council owned community areas and car parks are invested in, council owned commercial property is providing as much income as possible, and look for opportunities to invest in assets that provide a sustainable, long-term income to the Borough of Swindon.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m delighted and honoured to have been appointed as Cabinet Member for Recycling and Streetscene.

Front line services and streetscene is the front face of the town. Ensuring good waste and recycling collections and recycling plays a key part in reducing our carbon footprint.

Making our town cleaner and tider will bring back a sense of pride in our town and create a place we are all proud to call our home.

I will use my many years of experience on the Council, which includes previously being the Cabinet Member for Waste and Recycling to deliver the very best for residents.โ€

โ€œEnsuring that every child in Swindon has the best possible chance, regardless of their background or circumstances, is an absolute priority.

Iโ€™ve had the privilege of visiting many of our fantastic schools in Swindon over the years, and was pleased to help the crucial fairer funding campaign, as well as work with the DfE on a number of issues from the National Curriculum to improvement grants.

Having young children has also made me realise how crucial the Early Years sector is, as well as the support for new mums through the Health Visitor teams.

Finally, with experience of the Family Court system, I know just how vital it is that SBC provides that safety net to the most vulnerable children in Swindon, and how our roles as corporate parents must always come first.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m proud to take on the role of Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, bringing with me a strong professional interest from several years working in highways technology.

While we do not have an unlimited budget, I want us to make better use of technology and road condition data to prioritise maintenance and improvements in a more permanent and targeted way.

I also want to publish a clear working list of planned projects, so residents can see what is being considered, what is coming forward, and where it sits on the delivery roadmap.

My aim is to provide an honest, practical and well-informed approach to improving Swindonโ€™s roads and transport network.โ€

Jake Chandler is our Deputy and also Councillor for St Andrews East. He is the Cabinet Member for Strategy, Resilience & Green Infrastructure.๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ

I am incredibly honoured to serve Swindon as Deputy Leader of Swindon Borough Council and the Cabinet Member for Strategy, Resilience and Green Infrastructure in the Conservative Administration.

As Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member, my role will be to shape the strategic approach and policy direction within the Administration across, and support the Leader in his role at all times.

Within Cabinet, my focus will be across many of the Council's Departments. Aiding strategic changes within our recovery plan for Swindon. I will also be working on the Council preparedness for emergencies and future challenges. I look forward to a constructive relationship with Council Officers, Councillors of all parties, stakeholders and organisations outside of the Council, local businesses, and most importantly, the people of Swindon to deliver on these objectives.

I am very pleased to be the responsible portfolio holder for Green Infrastructure. From our incredible Country Parks, woodland, nature reserves, allotments and other vital green spaces for biodiversity and wildlife. As an administration, we have plans to protect and enhance these spaces, and I cannot wait to get started. I will also take over the Borough's strategic approach to flood defences, that many communities rely on to be properly maintained.

We will also be bolstering our offer of Country Parks by adding new ones over the course of our administration, the first new ones in 20 years!

I intend to use my career experience, and experiences with the Council and voluntary roles to promote the interests our Town and deliver on our positive vision for Swindon. We as an incoming administration recognise the unprecedent challenges facing Swindon Borough Council, and we are determined that Swindon will thrive again, with the right Leadership, the right investment, the right opportunities, and the right attitude.
