As part of the Swindon Dementia Action Alliance, it was good to meet up and discuss ways to support our Swindon community either living with, or affected by, dementia.

💙💛 Quarterly Meeting Update 💛💙

Earlier today, members of the Swindon Dementia Action Alliance came together for our quarterly meeting.

It was another positive opportunity for us to reflect on what we’ve achieved, share ideas, and look ahead to what we have planned for the next few months. As always, conversations were guided by our shared commitment to supporting people living with dementia and helping to make Swindon a caring, dementia‑aware community.

We were also delighted to welcome Nigel and Gill to their first meeting as our Community Voice. As a couple living first-hand with dementia in our community, their lived experience and insight are incredibly valuable, and we are proud to have them involved in shaping our work going forward.

A huge thank you to everyone who gives their time, energy and passion - our volunteers, partners, and supporters - your contributions continue to make a real difference.

Together, we’re working to ensure that people living with dementia can continue to live normal lives, stay connected, and feel valued within our community.

If you’d like to get involved or find out more about what we do, please get in touch: [email protected] 💙💛

Overdue email notices:

We have been made aware that some borrowers may have received emails regarding overdue books which have already been returned to the library, in some cases quite some time ago.

Please accept our apologies for this technical error. You can check the status of your account by logging in, but if your account shows no loans, there is no need to contact the library.

One in 10 children do not own a book of their own. World Book Day aims to change this by encouraging children to read for pleasure and receive a book of their own for free.
To support this locally, Central Library is one of Swindon’s World Book Day exchange hubs. Anyone with a World Book Day 2026 book token can go to Central Library and use their token to choose one of the specially-selected free books, up until the 15 March.
Tokens are distributed through schools and nurseries and a range of children’s magazines. Central Library also has World Book Day tokens available for children who do not have one.
Children who dress up for World Book Day are invited to wear their costumes to Central Library to collect their book. They will also receive a free sticker and bookmark along with their free book (while stocks last).
