Lots happening in the ward and across Swindon this month!

🇵🇱 The Polish Festival is taking place today in Queen’s Park. I was there this morning running with Swindon Sole Sisters and saw everything being set up. There’ll be great food, music, and a fantastic atmosphere in a beautiful location—well worth a visit.

🎉 The Old Town Festival is also on today along Wood Street. It’s a lovely opportunity to meet neighbours, support local businesses, and enjoy some excellent food and entertainment.

🇮🇳 Looking ahead, the Goan Festival will be coming to Queen’s Park on 20 June.

🇧🇩 And on 28 June, the Bangladeshi Boishakhi Mela will take place at GWR Park.

It’s wonderful to see so many community events bringing people together and celebrating the diversity of our town. If you can, do come along and support.

My first volunteer role at Junior Park Run done at GWR Park, Faringdon Road.

Best way to spend a Sunday morning- a real sense of community and fantastic way to get kids active and meet people.

GWR park in general is a great place to get your vitamin D, and look at all the beautiful things South Swindon Parish Council have done-including the Bugs Hotel! Get Active, relax, learn about the environment/nature- all in one!

Highly recommend it!

Just been notified of fly-tipping outside a house in the Queen’s Park ward.

Glad I can still help where I can. And it’s nice to know that in just 7 months during our campaign period I have built this kind of relationship with residents. But where this happens as a result of tenancy changes, we need to be working with landlords to ensure furniture and other waste is properly removed, rather than becoming a burden on the council and local residents.

I have reported the incident.

I hope our councillors will work together to make these changes and improve our streets and services.

Thank you to all our followers and please continue with us on our journey. Elections are over but our work still continues!

Here is a schedule of some of the great community work taking place via Voluntary Action Swindon (VAS) this week.

It would be great to get involved- see if something tickles your fancy!

It really is a fantastic way to build our community and socialise.

Thank you.

On election day alone, each one of us woke up and started canvassing from around 5:30am. Our feet ached from pounding the streets — especially those hills!

We are incredibly proud of our campaign. We stood tall and approached this with dignity and integrity.

Our focus was our work and our vision for Swindon, and that commitment will continue to grow from here. Our passion is to deliver for the people of Swindon — including us as residents and families ourselves. That doesn’t stop because an election has ended.

We are so grateful for all the support and every single vote. We came so close, but just fell short. It’s been a tough few days taking it all in, not least because the results didn’t go our way.

To those who voted for us: thank you. We’re sorry we couldn’t quite get over the line this time, but we will keep going, and hopefully next time we can deliver the result you wanted.

To those who didn’t vote for us: we hope that, in time, we can earn your trust and show through our work that we are committed to serving Swindon better.

We are immensely grateful. And we go again! This is but the beginning!

Congratulations to all that were elected in especially to our 11 parish councillors- Swindon has its first 11 elected Green Councillors- well done all!

We are proud of our campaign that was dignified, hopeful, positive and full of integrity. We are sorry that we fell short on winning this time…but we will continue with our work in the community and will continue growing the party.

First a busy lunchtime out knocking on doors, then the evening at Create Studios for the hustings organised by .

Councillor Tom Butcher spoke strongly, setting out a clear case for voting Green — honest, ambitious, and grounded in what Swindon truly needs.

You can listen to him on the Swindon 24 page.

After the hustings, we had a really valuable conversation with members of Swindon Youth Voices, who spoke about apprenticeships and the importance of giving young people real opportunities to stay in Swindon for education and employment. This is something we’ve been working on and are keen to develop further.

On 7th May, please get out and make your vote count. In Queen’s Park, Reform aren’t getting in, you can check the tactical vote site that confirms this. This means you can vote with your conscience, without worrying about splitting the vote.

Vote with your heart. .
