Something exciting is coming to Salford… 👀

This September, the BBC’s Contains Strong Language festival celebrates its tenth anniversary right here in the city as part of !

Expect four days of poetry, spoken word, performances, workshops, exhibitions and creative activities for children and families at MediaCity.

Looking for your next summer adventure?

Head to RHS Garden Bridgewater and follow the Brick Explorers wildlife superhero trail, featuring incredible sculptures made from hundreds of thousands of bricks.

Pick up an activity booklet, collect each wildlife superhero’s special powers and take on challenges as you explore the gardens.

There’s also a very special Salford addition to find along the way...our centenary heron!

What a truly fantastic Friday this has been! ❤️

Today we got to celebrate two very special people, Ron and Margaret

Ron celebrated his 100th birthday today and we were delighted to join him, his friends and his amazing dog Mitsy. We hope you had a wonderful day celebrating and enjoyed your fish and chips lunch, Ron!

We also had the privilege of joining Margaret who was celebrating her 104th birthday today! A very special afternoon surrounded by Margaret’s family and loved ones, filled with lots of singing, dancing and happy times Kenyon Lodge Care Home

Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day, it is a real pleasure to celebrate our centenarians in Salford’s very own centenary year 🥳

Beyond the Dirty Old Town... a collection of anthems for Salford's centenary. 🎤💯

Spoken word artist The Thirsty Poet explains the vision behind his involvement in , and his connection to the iconic Ewan MacColl lyric.

Forged in our neighbourhoods and communities, Songs of Salford brings together five local musicians, numerous community groups, and production by From The Other and Charlie, to reflect on what it means to call Salford home in 2026.

The consultation on the Salford Local Plan: Core Strategy and Allocations is now open.

The plan sets out proposals that will help guide future development in Salford.

Wishing the wonderful Rhoda a very happy 100th birthday! 🎈 🎂

Today we had the privilege of attending Rhoda’s 100th birthday. Filled with lots of singing and celebrating, surrounded by Rhoda’s family and friends. The Ceremonial Mayor of Salford, Councillor Robin Garrido, Mayoress Karen Garrido and Councillor Arnold Saunders attended the special occasion

Rhoda has been a Salford resident all her life. It was so fantastic to be a part of this very special day, thank you for letting us be a part of your amazing celebration

In our city's very own centenary year, celebrating our centenarians is even more special! ❤️
