Playing politics with children's safeguarding really is beyond belief.

Deeply disappointing and completely bizarre position by Sinn Fein. Our children's safeguarding is not a bargaining chip - by the Unions or anyone else.

Inspections are absolutely essential to ensure child safeguarding and other standards are in place.

This is protected in law in Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England. Paul Given is bringing our law up to that standard.

No where else across these isles are inspections including on safeguarding subject to being withheld as part of strike or industrial action. It should NEVER be a bargaining chip nor is legally protecting the right to carry out safeguarding inspections any attack on teachers rights. In my experience, teachers care about the children and protecting them.

Sinn Fein agreed this issue to go on the Executive agenda and did not oppose it at the Executive.

We won't be bullied into supporting laws that are bad for Northern Ireland. The Sinn Fein Minister took nearly 24 months to bring forward her Employment Rights Bill and now they want it approved in little more than 24 days.
We want to see legislation that supports good jobs in Northern Ireland and that's why we will continue to demand a workable bill - one that commands genuine confidence and can deliver for workers and employers alike.

North Belfast DUP MLA and Economy spokesman Phillip Brett MLA reminds Sinn Fein that DUP Ministers won’t be bullied into backing bad law. We will take whatever time is needed to study the bill. After all, the Economy Minister missed her own timeline by six months.

𝗗𝗨𝗣 𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗲-𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀.

North Antrim MLA Paul Frew has tabled an amendment to the forthcoming Justice Bill, that will dispense with the need for the PSNI to give a warning before confiscating e-scooters and scramblers.

This is one in a range of powers and resources required but progress in empowering our police to take more immediate action to combat the scourge of those who misuse these vehicles on local communities.

We welcome the withdrawal of the Justice Minister’s flawed fi****ms fees consultation following strong concerns raised by certificate holders, clubs and dealers across Northern Ireland.

The original proposals were deeply concerning and lacked proper engagement with those affected.

There must now be meaningful consultation and a fair, workable system going forward. The PSNI must also finally deliver the long-promised review of its own fi****ms licensing processes and delays.

Today DUP MLAs Diane Dodds, Jonathan Buckley and Diane Forsythe, alongside local councillors, met the Parades Commission to voice serious local opposition to the planned IPSC parade in Scarva on 6 June.

Residents do not want a repeat of the disruption, tension and disorder witnessed last year. We made clear that community relations, public order and the voices of local people cannot continue to be ignored.

This parade has no genuine local connection to Scarva, yet strong local opposition is once again being disregarded.
