Today there was a fantastic turnout at the Discovery Day, Ilminster Arts Centre and Olly Hellis, our Digital Development Officer was very popular!

Olly showcased some cutting-edge 3D scanning and printing to help give everyone a hands-on feel of the amazing Ilminster Ring which South West Heritage Trust displayed to the local community.

Visitors were fascinated to hear how Somerset Libraries can help showcase new technology in new and engaging ways

Free Ilminster Ring Discovery Day - 20th August, Ilminster Arts Centre, 10-3

Come along to a great free family event in Ilminster to see how Somerset Libraries has worked with the South West Heritage Trust to bring history to life.

The Ilminster Ring, dating back to 297 AD, has been digitally scanned using a sophisticated 3D hand scanner, funded by British Library. The scanner creates a highly detailed 3D model that enables people to explore this important local artefact in new ways.

Olly from Somerset Libraries will be on hand to help you get hands-on with some cutting-edge technology, so come along and say hello!
