Always fun to be out campaigning with friends across the South West. 🌹

Fun morning out in talking to residents with .casemore, Cllr & Cllr Ruth Williams - with a great team of volunteers, including our former MP !

I’ve picked up casework on foster caring, potholes (which I’ll get onto DCC about), and the NHS.

Lots of support for ’s position on Iran - protecting British citizens and assets, but not engaging in a war that doesn’t have a clear plan or objective.

Horrific news coming from West Somerset.

This is the stuff of nightmares for schools and parents. Thoughts are with families, staff and emergency services.

A major incident has been declared following a collision involving a coach on the A396 near Minehead this afternoon (Thursday 17 July).

Emergency services are at the scene and we ask people to avoid the area so our response to this incident is not impacted.

I am attending Somerset Council budget scrutiny meeting the agenda also includes the proposal to charge/change parking fees.
To be clear:-
Changing parking to bridge a gap is wrong!
24/25 is not balanced if there is a need to borrow circa £76 million £36 for budget & £40 million for redundancy.
25/26 includes borrowing upto £43 million

Pleased to meet so many Labour members from across the region and I was pleased to back motions from UNISON South West, Usdaw Union and GMB Wales & South West to support working people.

Somerset Council must deliver a clear plan that prioritises jobs and public services. 👇

Staff and local residents lobbied Somerset Council today over devastating cuts to jobs and public services.

The council’s proposed restructure includes cutting 555 jobs as it makes £32.5 million savings.

UNISON has repeatedly raised concerns about the lack of detail in consultation documents, particularly for an uncosted ‘transformation’ plan and the absence of clear strategies for IT and artificial intelligence.
