🏋️ Exciting news for Telford residents!

A major investment at Oakengates Leisure Centre will bring the first EGYM smart gym technology to Telford, helping more people access innovative, personalised fitness equipment close to home.

🔥 THE FUTURE OF FITNESS IS COMING TO OAKENGATES

We’re making one of the biggest investments ever seen at Oakengates Leisure Centre... and bringing the first EGYM smart strength circuit in Telford.

Think intelligent fitness equipment that adapts to you, tracks your progress and helps you achieve your goals faster.

PLUS:
✅ Brand-new Freemotion cardio equipment with iFIT
✅ New strength equipment
✅ Bespoke BLK BOX training rig
✅ Refurbished gym environment.

To complete these exciting improvements, the gym will temporarily close from Monday 9 November to Sunday 13 December, reopening on Monday 14 December.

💪 You’ll still be able to work out during the closure. Customers can use the swimming pool and fitness classes at Oakengates as well as using other aspirations facilities across the Borough.

This year's traditional observance of Remembrance will take place on Sunday, 8 November 2026.

Regular, Ex-service, Reserve, Pre-service units and Representatives of local organisations are invited to participate in a march through Oakengates. The Parade will step-off at 10.35am from The Salvation Army Citadel and march to Hartshill Park ready for the outdoor service which begins at 10:55am.

The parade route will be closed to all traffic from 10:30am to allow the parade to march through safely and will reopen at 10:45am (approximately). Please note there will be disruption to traffic around the parade route during those times.

Today marks 100 years of Winnie-the-Pooh, the beloved bear created by A.A. Milne whose adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood have been enjoyed by generations of readers.

Looking for a Winnie the Pooh story to celebrate? As our image shows below, there are a range of Winnie-the-Pooh titles available through Telford & Wrekin Libraries. If the book you'd like isn't available at Oakengates Library, you can easily reserve it online from another library and have it delivered to Oakengates for collection.

Carriageway improvements in your area – Third Avenue, Ketley Bank

The work is due to take place on 30/10/2026 and be completed by 30/10/2026 (weekdays only) weather permitting. The works will be carried out under a road closure, which will be in place between 08:00-17:00 on weekdays.

🌻 A Fantastic Evening for a Great Cause! 🌻

Last night, the Mayor of Oakengates, Councillor Stephen Reynolds, hosted his Mayoral Curry Night in support of his 2026-27 Mayoral Charity, the Lingen Davies Cancer Support Sunflower Appeal.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a success. Special thanks go to Andy from the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal for joining us and sharing more about the charity's important work and to Banglapride Oakengates (Bangla Pride Telford) for their warm hospitality and providing a delicious meal enjoyed by all.

We are delighted to announce that a fantastic £750 was raised on the evening, with all proceeds going to the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal and the vital services they provide.

Thank you again to everyone who contributed, donated and supported the event. Together, we are making a real difference in our community. 🌻💛

Temporary Road Closure- Stafford Road, Oakengates

National Grid are planning to undertake new substation works. The work is set to commence on Tuesday 27th October 2026 and will last for a duration of 9 days with an end date of Wednesday 4th November 2026

The diversion route for vehicular traffic southbound will be signed on site.

The indicative phasing is outlined below but may be subject to change: Please note, there will only be one closure in place at anyone time.

Playing Together Sessions – Wednesday 14 October at The Wakes 🎨🧸✨

Join us for our Playing Together Sessions on Wednesday 14 October for lots of fun, play and exploration!

We're delighted to welcome Family Hubs back, who will be attending both sessions and running a special messy play activity for children to enjoy.

We'll also have all our usual activities available, including our sensory tent, baby play area, books, ball pit, soft play, toys, dressing-up and much more.
