At 94 years young, Smudge Smith is proving that age is no barrier to achieving something amazing. 👏

Smudge, who lives at our Frizes Leasowe retirement living scheme, set himself a challenge to walk 100 miles and raise money for Severn Hospice in memory of his late wife, Margaret. His goal was to complete the challenge by his 95th birthday in October but thanks to his determination, he crossed the 100-mile mark an incredible two months ahead of schedule.

Not only has Smudge completed the challenge early, but he has also raised more than £2,000 for the hospice that cared for Margaret. And he's not stopping there, with plans to keep adding to his mileage until his birthday. 🚶‍♂️

✏️🎒Some good news - new school uniform rules designed to help families save money ahead of the new school year have been announced.

From 1 September, new rules will come into effect in England, helping families save money as schools will be expected to keep the number of branded or compulsory uniform items to a minimum.

This means parents and carers will have more flexibility to buy affordable alternatives where school logos aren't needed.

Before you hit the shops, remember to:

✅ Check what still fits and can be reused
✅ Compare prices between supermarkets, high street retailers and online
✅ Look for second-hand uniforms through school schemes and local community groups

📦 arrange for any deliveries to be paused or collected if you’re not going to be home.
