Help Us Shape a Digital Community Hub- Telford & Wrekin Council and Ability Net

Telford & Wrekin Council and AbilityNet are inviting local voluntary, community, and social enterprise groups to be part of an exciting pilot project.
We’re working together to design a Digital Community Hub. A practical, community-led way to support residents with basic digital skills like getting online, using devices, accessing services, and staying safe.
Be part of building something new
This isn’t a finished model; we want to create it with you. Your experience will help shape:
• What support residents really need
• What an effective, flexible hub looks like
• What training staff and volunteers need to feel confident
What you’ll do
• Share what works (and what doesn’t)
• Help design the hub and support offer
• Shape training for staff and Digital Champions
• Test ideas in a real community setting

A Better Tomorrow is a peer-led organisation supporting people affected by drug or alcohol addiction, mental health challenges, homelessness and domestic abuse. We provide safe, supportive environments where people can rebuild stability, confidence and independence.

Our housing services cover drug and alcohol recovery, domestic abuse, mental health and early intervention.

Alongside this, we offer one-to-one support, structured recovery programmes, wellbeing activities, volunteering, and pathways into training and employment, delivering 140+ hours of activities every month.

What makes us different is that many of our staff and volunteers have lived experience themselves. We know recovery is possible because we've walked that path too. 💜

Addiction doesn't stay at the door when someone comes to work. It shows up in absences, in performance, in the quiet struggles that too often go unaddressed, and most employers simply aren't equipped to respond.

That's why we're hosting this free, practical workshop for employers and HR professionals across Shropshire and beyond. Combining real-world HR guidance with lived experience of addiction and recovery, this session will help you understand what addiction actually looks like in a workplace setting, navigate challenging scenarios with compassion and confidence, and take practical steps to build a culture where people feel safe to seek support.


Whether you're already supporting someone in your team or simply want to be better prepared, this session will leave you with the knowledge and confidence to make a real difference.

We still have tickets left for our Sutton Hill and Woodside events next week. If you've been struggling to collect yours, we have now supplied both Park Lane Centre Telford and The Hub On The Hill with a number of tickets to be collected right from the venue you wish to attend.

Pop along now with your age and address ID (you must be over 60 and living in the Madeley Town Council area) and pick up your FREE ticket. It's going to be a lovely afternoon filled with food, entertainment and company.

Don't forget, if you're in Madeley, you can still collect tickets for the Sutton Hill and Woodside events from Jubilee House.

You have until 4pm on Friday to book.
