Behind every emergency response is a Fire Control team.

As firefighters continue to respond to wildfires and other incidents across the country, Fire Control teams have been working around the clock, dealing with thousands of calls and coordinating resources in extremely challenging conditions.

Their professionalism, resilience and calm decision-making help ensure help reaches those who need it most.

Phil Garrigan, NFCC Chair, said, "We also recognise the extraordinary efforts of firefighters, control teams and support staff who continue to work around the clock in extremely challenging conditions to protect life, property and the environment."

Fire control are currently taking 999 calls for smoke in the area in the following locations

Bircher Common
Tenbury Wells
Bewdley
Stourport
Kidderminster

We currently have fire crews from Kingsland, Tenbury and Wyre Forest out searching the area and specifically in Tenbury we have driven around the area and believe the smoke locally to be from the Welsh wildfires.

Kingsland also believe the smoke in the Bircher Common area to be from Wales.

Wyre Forest also believe the smoke in their area to be from over the border fire.

Fire control are monitoring the situation.

Should you see smoke or fire coming from a specific area you should call 999.

If the smoke is causing you any issue we would advise to keep all doors and windows closed.

A bit of a tight squeeze for Tenbury's fire engine this morning as we were called to Muddy Lane to a pylon that had experienced a fault and started a small fire underneath. A crew used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and called in National Grid Customers UK to replace a broken insulator.

Yesterday was an exceptionally busy day across our service area for both our fire crews and fire control.

Our fire engine was called to standby at Wyre Forest for a short time to cover while a number of incidents were ongoing in North Worcestershire and Warwickshire.
Our crew covered for a short time while Wyre Forest's engine was moved over to Redditch due to a large incident where our service were supporting Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.

After the standby, our crew were sent to a fire involving a stretch of hedgerow on Cinders Lane in Wells. The fire was extinguished using hose reel jets.

As soon as the fire engine was freed up the crew were instructed to return to station to collect the to attend an incident in the Eardisley area of Herefordshire.
