🦔 Have you claimed your FREE hedgehog gravel board yet?

Back at the beginning of the month we shared the news about our free hedgehog friendly gravel boards - and if you haven’t claimed yours yet here’s your reminder!

Up to 100 boards are available, one per household, completely free. The board slots beneath your fence panel and creates a small gap - a hedgehog highway - allowing our prickly neighbours to move safely between gardens across Tenterden.

In partnership with construction students from who have designed the posters, made the boards and boxes, this project is very much a community effort - and every garden that joins makes a real difference.

With UK hedgehog numbers down by more than 30% since 2002, it takes minutes to get involved and the impact adds up. Anyone who takes part and creates a hedgehog hole highway will be asked to register their details and record their hedgehog sightings.

Head to the link in our bio to register your interest before they’re gone!

Contractors will be handing the Town Hall back to the Town Council in early June, marking a major milestone in the project. Throughout June, we’ll be busy getting everything ready—completing health & safety checks, moving staff back in, and restoring fixtures and furnishings. There’s a lot to do, but the building is looking absolutely fabulous!

The Town Hall will reopen to the public for general enquiries and day-to-day access this summer. A programme of reopening events will follow, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to experience the renewed Town Hall and celebrate its return to the heart of our community. 🏛️✨

Tenterden Urban Public Spaces Protection Order – have your say now 🗣️

Our Community Safety team have launched a consultation on the proposed introduction of a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) for Tenterden Urban.

Over recent months, Ashford Borough Council, Kent Police and Tenterden Town Council have received reports of wildlife being killed and damage being caused to residential property and vehicles. The three organisations have been working closely together to review the evidence as it has emerged and to identify common trends. Reports suggest the incidents are linked to the use of projectile devices, and this information has helped to define the proposed area covered by the order.

We’re encouraging everyone to have their say directly on our consultation portal where you can view a detailed list of proposed restrictions. Please use the consultation portal via the link within the comment section below to have your say and provide feedback before midnight on Sunday 7 June 2026.

Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPO) are intended to deal with a particular nuisance or problem in a particular area that is detrimental to the local community’s quality of life, by imposing conditions on the use of that area which apply to everyone.
They are designed to ensure the law-abiding majority can use and enjoy public spaces, safe from anti-social behaviour and are in line with the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
