The Tenterden hedgehog highways are growing and we need your help to keep it going! 🦔

Some of our free gravel boards have already found their homes, but there are still plenty left to claim. Swipe to see a residents photo of theirs in action!

One small gap beneath your fence panel is all it takes to give our prickly neighbours a safe route through Tenterden’s gardens. And the more gardens that join up, the more hedgehog sightings we hope to see recorded by residents - because every board claimed is another step towards making Tenterden a town hedgehogs can actually call home.

View the link in our bio to view the Hedgehog Map to see how many have been spotted in the area. 🦔

The Town Council have partnered with construction students from Homewood School & Sixth Form Centre for this project who have designed the posters, made the boards and boxes, this project is very much a community effort - and every garden that joins makes a real difference.

Up to 100 boards are available, one per household, completely free. The board slots beneath your fence panel and creates a small gap - a hedgehog highway - allowing our prickly neighbours to move safely between gardens across Tenterden.

Want to go one step further? Homewood School & Sixth Form Centre have also handmade hedgehog boxes, available for just £15 each give the school a call direct to place your order.

Register your interest for a free gravel board via the link in our bio. Let’s support our prickly friends together. 🏡

Something exciting is coming to Tenterden High Street very soon! The Town Hall reopening is getting closer!

After our recent post announcing the refurbishment is very nearly complete, we would like to remind our community and followers of how
how special this building is. 🏛️

Dating back to the 1790s, our Grade II listed Town Hall is one of the most iconic landmarks on the High Street. Commissioned after the original court hall was destroyed by fire in 1661, it’s been at the heart of Tenterden’s community ever since.

Inside you’ll find the stunning Georgian Assembly Room and a balcony overlooking the High Street and the elegant Mayor’s Parlour, perfect for intimate weddings and civil partnerships. From community events to council services, the Town Hall has always been a place where Tenterden comes together. And it’s now looking better than ever, we can’t wait to share the finished result with you.

Stay tuned for the big reveal and for a series of reopening events giving residents and visitors the opportunity to experience the renewed Town hall in all it’s glory, you won’t want to miss it!

🦔 Have you claimed your FREE hedgehog gravel board yet?

Back at the beginning of the month we shared the news about our free hedgehog friendly gravel boards - and if you haven’t claimed yours yet here’s your reminder!

Up to 100 boards are available, one per household, completely free. The board slots beneath your fence panel and creates a small gap - a hedgehog highway - allowing our prickly neighbours to move safely between gardens across Tenterden.

In partnership with construction students from who have designed the posters, made the boards and boxes, this project is very much a community effort - and every garden that joins makes a real difference.

With UK hedgehog numbers down by more than 30% since 2002, it takes minutes to get involved and the impact adds up. Anyone who takes part and creates a hedgehog hole highway will be asked to register their details and record their hedgehog sightings.

Head to the link in our bio to register your interest before they’re gone!

Contractors will be handing the Town Hall back to the Town Council in early June, marking a major milestone in the project. Throughout June, we’ll be busy getting everything ready—completing health & safety checks, moving staff back in, and restoring fixtures and furnishings. There’s a lot to do, but the building is looking absolutely fabulous!

The Town Hall will reopen to the public for general enquiries and day-to-day access this summer. A programme of reopening events will follow, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to experience the renewed Town Hall and celebrate its return to the heart of our community. 🏛️✨
