Tenterden has a High Street to be proud of 🌳🌿

We often hear visitors to comment on how beautiful our tree-lined High Street is and we can see why!

We’re incredibly lucky to have such a unique, characterful and pleasant High Street, where the trees, historic buildings and independent businesses create such a lovely setting.

So if you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a sunny Sunday stroll, why not visit Tenterden today! Grab a takeaway coffee from one of the many independent coffee shops, take a walk and enjoy the greenery and soak up a little bit of what makes the town so special.

Sometimes it’s easy to overlook just how lucky we are to call it home 🌳

🦔 Help us connect Tenderden’s hedgehogs! 🦔

Have you claimed your FREE hedgehog-friendly gravel board yet?

Tenderden Town Council, working in partnership with the construction students at Homewood School & Sixth Form Centre, launched the Hedgehog Highway Project this summer to help create a connected network of gardens where hedgehogs can safely roam, forage and find shelter.

A tiny hole at the bottom of a fence can make a huge difference. By replacing the bottom section of your fence with one of our gravel boards, you can give hedgehogs a safe passage into your garden and help connect their route with neighbouring gardens.

🌿 Up to 100 boards are available
🏡 One per household
🦔 Help create a Hedgehog Highway across Tenderden
💚 Completely FREE!

The more gardens that join, the bigger and safer the network becomes. So why not chat to your neighbours and see if you can create a little hedgehog highway of your own?

There are still boards available, but once they’re gone, they’re gone!

👉 Register your interest via the link in our bio and join the Hedgehog Friendly Tenderden scheme.

And if you fancy going one step further, Homewood School students have also handmade hedgehog boxes for just £15 each. 🦔🏡

Let’s make Tenderden a safer place for our prickly neighbours! 💚

🚶‍♀️🚴 Improvement works are set to begin on the Colonel Stephens Greenway this autumn.

Kent County Council will be resurfacing 650 metres of the route to create a more accessible, all-weather path for walkers, wheelers and cyclists. The scheme will improve this important traffic-free link between St Michael's and Tenterden town centre.

Tenterden Town Council welcomes the scheme and has worked with colleagues at Kent County Council during its development.

Works are due to start in October and will take approximately four weeks to complete. The Greenway will be temporarily closed during the works, with diversion routes in place.

For full details, please see Kent County Council's announcement:

A popular walking and cycling route is set to be resurfaced as part of plans to make it more accessible all year round.

Fancy a fun little challenge next time you’re in town?

Tenterden’s High Street is dotted with blue plaques created by here.beforeus, each one marking a little piece of local history hiding in plain sight.

Next time you’re walking through, see how many you can spot and count along the way. No prize, just a nice excuse for a slower wander round town and a good reason to carefully look at the buildings you walk past every day.

Comment your final count below once you’ve had a go - we’d love to see how many of you get it right!🕵️
