Teversham Parish Council has formally applied to have Darwin Nurseries recognised as an Asset of Community Value, and we now need your voices to help strengthen the case.

If you are a current or past service user, a family member, or a customer who visits the farm shop, we would be incredibly grateful if you could share a short supportive statement about what Darwin Nurseries means to you.

You might want to tell us about:

How the site has supported you or someone you know

Why the farm shop, café, animals, or green space matter to you

How Darwin contributes to wellbeing, inclusion, or community life

Any memories or experiences that show its value to the local area

Your words will help demonstrate just how important Darwin Nurseries is to our village and to the wider community.

Did you know it’s Flood Action Week, and we’re encouraging everyone in Teversham to take a few simple steps to stay informed and ready should flooding ever affect our area.

Sign up for free flood alerts from the Environment Agency

Check your property’s flood risk and learn what actions you can take

Make a basic household plan so everyone knows what to do

Keep an eye on weather updates and local notices

Look out for neighbours who may need extra support

Flooding can happen quickly, but being prepared makes a huge difference. Let’s all take a moment this week to make sure we’re ready and resilient as a community.

Come along to hear from Martin Walshe about how WaterAid’s work is transforming lives around the world by improving access to clean water and sanitation.

Martin has had an incredible career working across the globe, and we’re sure his talk will be both highly entertaining and deeply interesting.

Dog Poo: This Needs Saying… Again

We are still finding dog poo left around the village — and unbelievably, people are bagging it and then dumping the bag on paths, verges, hedges and even the recreation ground. There is no need for it, it’s lazy, and it’s completely antisocial.

If you can be bothered to bag it, you can be bothered to bin it. Leaving a plastic bag full of poo behind is worse than not picking it up at all. It’s harmful to wildlife, horrible for children walking to school, and unfair on everyone who uses our shared spaces.

This isn’t a small issue. It’s a basic standard of respect for the community.

Pick it up. Bag it. Bin it. Every single time.

Let’s stop making other people deal with what the minority of irresponsible dog owners should be doing themselves.

You don’t need any previous council experience — just enthusiasm, a willingness to listen, and an interest in supporting our community. If you care about Teversham & Foxgloves and want to help make a positive difference, this could be a great opportunity.
