MRH Alliance Engagement Team have forwarded the following 'As part of the Midlands Rail Hub programme, we are developing proposals to enhance the rail network from Birmingham Moor Street station to Bordesley in central Birmingham, which will help to unlock the existing capacity constraints within the centre of Birmingham.

Our proposals would enable the extension of an hourly Cardiff-Cheltenham Spa train service to Birmingham, with possible additional stops at Ashchurch and Worcestershire Parkway stations.

We have heard from National Highways about the following closure:-

I’m writing to inform you of some upcoming maintenance work on the A46 near Evesham.

We’ll be carrying out resurfacing work on the A46 northbound and southbound between Beckford and Ashton under Hill.

We’ll work overnight whilst traffic volumes are lower from 9pm to 6am from Monday 24 August 2026 to Thursday 27 August 2026 and on Tuesday 1 September 2026. To complete our work safely, there’ll be a total closure of the A46 northbound and southbound between Beckford and Ashton under Hill.

During the closure, the attached diversion will be in place:

Diversion Where it is safe to do so, access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained in emergency situations.

We’ll make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum. We always aim to work to the programme, however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes.

Northway Parish Council sends its condolences to Mike's Family at this sad time. Mike was known to everyone in his role as Town Crier and will be greatly missed. Mike was also a resident in Northway Parish.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Mike Kean-Price, who served Tewkesbury as Town Crier for 26 years.

Cllr George Porter, the Mayor of Tewkesbury Borough, has issued the following statement:

"Mike Kean-Price was a much-loved figure in Tewkesbury whose dedication to the town and its traditions spanned more than two decades. Through his role as Town Crier, he represented Tewkesbury with great pride and helped bring the town's unique character and heritage to life for residents and visitors alike.

"I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Mike's family, friends and all those who knew him. His contribution to our community will be remembered with great affection, and his loss will be felt by many across the town and beyond."
