Severn Ham Tewkesbury The Severn Ham is a 70 hectare Site of Special Scientific Interest and is protected for being one of the few remaining traditionally managed ham meadows.

The Severn Ham is owned by Tewkesbury Town Council and is open for the public to enjoy.

Livestock will be arriving back on the Ham from 12th August onwards, so all dogs will need to be kept on leads.

🦦 Keeping an eye on mink along the Severn 🦦

You may notice some small floating rafts appearing around the Severn Ham over the coming weeks.

Tewkesbury Town Council is working with the Waterlife Recovery Trust to monitor for the presence of American mink in the area. These monitoring rafts help identify mink activity and support wider conservation efforts to protect our native wildlife, particularly water voles, which can be severely impacted by mink predation.

Some of you may have seen the recent feature on Countryfile, which highlighted the important work being carried out across the country to monitor and control mink populations.

If you spot one of the rafts, please admire it from a distance and avoid disturbing it so the monitoring can be as effective as possible. If you would like to be involved in the monitoring, please DM us and we can share your details with the project.
