The Liberal Democrats are different. Unlike the other parties, we are a democratic organisation, where our members decide our policy and elect our leader. Our local parties are independent and work hard in their communities - giving local people a voice and deciding how their neighbourhoods are run. And we have strong state parties in Scotland and Wales, and regional parties in England. General Information

We know roadworks can be frustrating, but there's a good reason for many of the works taking place this summer. By scheduling works during the school holidays, we can help reduce disruption during the busy school run.

The works currently underway on the A4 are supporting the installation of vital infrastructure for a new MRI scanner at the West Berkshire Community Hospital, helping support improved healthcare services for local residents.

♻️ Where did your plastic recycling go in 2025-26?

Ever wondered what happens to the plastic items you put in your green recycling bag?

Thanks to our recycling contractor, the plastic packaging collected from West Berkshire households was reprocessed here in the UK.

During 2025-26:

📍 77% was sent to Essex
📍 12% was sent to Lincolnshire
📍 6% was sent to the West Midlands

To keep the map clear and easy to read, destinations receiving 3% or less of the material have been excluded. As a result, the percentages shown may not always add up to 100%.
The remaining 5% of material is also recycled at facilities in North Yorkshire (1%), Leicestershire (1%), Derbyshire (2%) and Hampshire (1%).

By recycling your plastic packaging, you're helping valuable materials stay in use and reducing the need for new raw materials.

💡 Did you know? We now recycle plastic tubes, including toothpaste, hand cream and cosmetic tubes, as part of our expanded recycling service. Just pop them in your recycling bin along with your plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays.

✅ Remember to empty and rinse containers before recycling, where needed. This helps prevent food contamination, unwanted pests and unpleasant smells.
