While households across Newbury and West Berkshire are being told to save water, Thames Water is losing 570 million litres of treated drinking water every day through leaks.
New figures analysed by the House of Commons Library and the Liberal Democrats show that Thames Water lost 97.9 litres per customer, per day in 2024/25.
What's truly shocking is that this is their best leakage figure since records began in 1992.
After decades of failure, customers are paying more, being asked to use less, and watching billions of litres disappear from the system.
As we prepare for a fifth heatwave this summer, the Government cannot keep letting Thames Water get away with it.
We need a tougher regulator with real powers to hold water companies to account, stop sewage dumping in our precious chalk streams, and make sure customers' money is spent fixing leaks, not rewarding failure.
