Join us this Friday 4th September for the first of our monthly Jubilee Sensory Garden Coffee Mornings.

From 10am until 12pm, come and share a couple of hours with our resident gardener Polly over a free tea, coffee and cake! We'll be doing lavender based activities and, if it's wet? No problem! We'll head inside to the council chamber.

We hope to see you there 🌱

Let's see where the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Thatcham have been of late…

The Mayor of Thatcham, Cllr Mark Lillycrop, has been spotted at various events, such as KATS - Kennet Amateur Theatrical Society performance of Allo Allo, Afrofest by Community United, a fundraising coffee morning with Thatcham Cancer Support Group, celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of Thatcham & District Philatelic Society, and KidsFest!

The Deputy Mayor, Cllr Petra Pemberton, has also been spotted 'under the sea' at Kidsfest alongside Mr Mayor!

We have found a bag of books in London Road Cemetery. Are they yours, or were they being taken to the charity shop?

If these books belong to you, please let us know what you would like us to do with them. We are more than happy to deliver them to a local charity shop on your behalf.

If we haven't heard from anyone by the end of September, we will take the books to a local charity shop.

Looking for some Friday night entertainment?

Join the Mayor of Thatcham from 7pm on Friday 25th September for his Fundraising Silent Disco at the Frank Hutchings Community Hall🎧🎶

Entry costs £5 per person and includes your headphone hire for the night.
Don't forget to bring your own drinks and snacks to keep you dancing the night away🕺🪩

Profits from the night will go to the Mayor's Chosen Charities, PALS (West Berkshire) and West Berks Foodbank.

The NEW Social/Support Group for those with hearing loss met today for the first time at the Thatcham Town Council Office. The group aims to bring together like-minded people to discuss everyday hearing issues, and share experiences and technical tips, and tea, coffee and cake is provided too!

If you have experienced hearing loss, do come along to our next group on Tuesday 20th October at Thatcham Council Chamber, Brownsfield Road from 10am-11am.

*** Road Closure - Lower Way ***
West Berkshire Council have informed us Lower Way is closed from the A4 London Road junction to approximately 140m East along Lower Way from Monday 31st August - Friday 4th September.
Please note the finish date for these works may be extended beyond this initial closure.

This closure is for emergency works by Thames Water to mitigate flows to prevent customer issues of internal flooding and avoid any environmental impact. Tankers are required on Lower Way to pump sewage from the sewer to reduce flood risk

Blue light will remain available where possible.
Residents will need to follow the diversion route for access.
All enquiries should be directed to Thames Water on 0800 316 9800.

Autumn is calling, so we've put together some tips on how to make your garden, balcony or window box a wildlife haven this September🍂🦔🦇

1. Keep making use of grey water for watering where possible and keep dishes topped up with fresh, clean water for wildlife to bathe in and drink from🐦🦉

2. Continue collecting and storing seeds of hardy annuals and perennials for sowing later this autumn or in Spring. Leave any excess seeds for birds and wildlife!

3. Start planting your spring bulbs to create wildlife haven next spring🌷

4. Gather piles of logs to provide shelter for friendly hedgehogs, insects and other small mammals. Don't forget to leave some areas of your garden undisturbed to provide hibernation and nesting spaces. If you're in a flat, consider adding a bat box to a wall or balcony🪵🦔

5. Don't forget to check what may already be growing by using a plant identifier app or borrow a plant book from the Thatcham Library - you might be surprised to see what you can find!
