All are welcome as we gather to honour the bravery and sacrifice of “The Few” and reflect on their lasting legacy.

On 15th August, the Deputy Mayor of Thetford, Cllr Mac MacDonald, attended a service at the FEPOW memorial tree, where he laid a wreath on behalf of the town.

Cllr MacDonald said,
"It was a profound privilege to lay this wreath on behalf of Thetford Town Council and to pause in remembrance of those who served in the Far East during World War II. Often referred to as "the forgotten war", the endurance and sacrifice of those who fought there was remembered today and should never be forgotten."

A busy last week in July for the Mayor of Thetford, starting off with a community evening for the Mayor’s Family Bingo night at The Carnegie, a well attended evening that raised funds for the Mayor’s Charity Fund - which this year will go towards supporting Thetford Boxing Club, 3rd Thetford Scouts and Thetford Voices workshops and Summer School.

The Mayor and Mayoress also showed their support as they met some of the trustees of the Thetford and District Dementia Support Group, who celebrated their 12th birthday with a group celebration, complete with a visit from the Miniature Donkeys!

And finally, the Mayor and Mayoress were delighted to attend the Coronation House Care Home Fete. The residents were entertained by Charlie Wilson and members of Thetford Players.

A wonderful few days supporting local community groups and charities!

Thetford Voices has been selected as one of the Mayor's chosen charities for the 2026/2027 term. They do exceptional work with young people involved in their holiday club and are currently fundraising to expand access to their musical workshops for children aged 6-18 in Thetford and the surrounding areas.
