It’s the Sunday of the bank holiday weekend and after yesterday’s rain it’s a tank engine day today. We have Jason and Hatfield on the main passenger service and Perseus on train 3 if required. 🚂

Pack a jacket just in case, enjoy the cooler weather and take a ride on the train which is running from 10:45am to 5:00pm. 🌞☔️

Moors Valley Railway is proud to work with local supplier Forest Ice Cream to supply our railway with a wide variety of ice creams available from our Kingsmere and Lakeside railway stations.🚂🍦

This week is Adventure Week and we are joining forces with our colleagues at Adventure Valley mini golf and cycle hire to offer a very special deal.

Purchase a day rover ticket at Moors Valley Railway and not only get unlimited train rides all day but also a free mini golf for 1 person or a free 1 hour cycle hire for 1 person.

Trains are running every day during the school holidays from 10:45am to 5:00pm, and both Kingsmere and Lakeside stations are open for refreshments including local New Forest Ice Cream.

Ever wanted to drive a real steam engine?

Make the dream come true at Moors Valley on our Footplate Experience Course. We are taking bookings now for courses starting in September and running through until November.

Enjoy a full day at the controls sharing with one other participant, finishing with the chance for up to six guests to ride on the train with you at the controls. Lunch and refreshments are included. All this for £299 per participant. Minimum age 18.

If you attended our 40th Anniversary Gala recently you may have seen Aelfred on display in the carriage shed.

Aelfred was built in 1985 by Mike Haylock and is styled on the Vale of Rheidol tank engines from North Wales, but as a 2-6-4T wheel arrangement. It was the last locomotive completed at Tucktonia before the opening of Moors Valley Railway.

Unfortunately the boiler was condemned a number of years ago and a new boiler purchased for the engine. It is currently awaiting its place in the workshop to have the new boiler fitted and return to service.

We cannot wait to see this beautiful engine back in service.
