✨ What are we excited about this academic year? ✨

There’s so much to look forward to as we head into a new school year!

🤸‍♀️ New after-school clubs – we’re thrilled to have Lucy Monk, gymnastics coach, joining us to offer exciting opportunities for our children.

🏙️🌲 Two amazing residentials – we have two fantastic trips booked, including a city break and an outdoor adventure exploring the great outdoors. We can’t wait for the experiences, challenges and memories these will bring!

📍 Exploring our local area and community – we’re looking forward to getting out and about, discovering what’s on our doorstep and building connections with the wonderful people and places in our community.

💛 But most importantly… our children and families!
We’re so excited to welcome everyone back, work alongside our wonderful families and see our children learning, growing, laughing and making memories together.

If you have a little one aged 9 months to 4 years and you are a working parent, you may be eligible for up to 30 hours of government-funded childcare for 38 weeks of the year.

A very special congratulations to Sean and Elizabeth Crawford – 70 wonderful years!

We were delighted to read in today’s Keswick Reminder that Sean and Elizabeth Crawford have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary – an incredible milestone and one that has a particularly special connection to our Threlkeld School community. ❤️

For me personally, this story brought back some very fond memories.

Mr Crawford was one of my teachers when I was a pupil at Keswick School, and he was one of a small number of teachers who genuinely inspired me. He helped shape my positive view of education and, without me perhaps realising it at the time, influenced my own ideas about the kind of teacher I wanted to become.

Those teachers showed me that education is about so much more than lessons and subjects. Great teachers encourage you, believe in you, broaden your horizons and leave you with something that can last a lifetime.

Their influence played a part in inspiring me to step into a classroom myself and, eventually, to become a school leader – giving me the privilege of helping to shape, encourage and inspire the young minds of another generation.

And perhaps the loveliest part of this story is the wonderful circle of life. ❤️

Today, here at Threlkeld School, we have the next generations of the family within our own school community, with Theo and Louis being the great-grandchildren of Mr and Mrs Crawford.

To think that I was once a child sitting in Mr Crawford’s classroom, inspired by my own teachers, and that all these years later I am a Headteacher with his great-grandchildren as part of our school community feels incredibly special.

It is a lovely reminder that we never really know just how far the influence of a great teacher might travel – or how many generations it might touch.

Huge congratulations to Sean and Elizabeth on 70 years of marriage from everyone at Threlkeld School. What a wonderful achievement and a very special local story. 🥂💐❤️
