🚸 A LITTLE THOUGHT FOR PEDESTRIANS, PLEASE! 🌧️💙

We’d like to share a gentle reminder to everyone using our roads to look out for pedestrians, especially during wet weather.

💦 If you’re driving past puddles near pavements, please slow down where it’s safe to do so and try to avoid splashing people walking by. A little extra care can make a big difference, helping everyone stay comfortable and enjoy their journey.

⚠️ Did you know that drivers in the UK can be fined for splashing pedestrians? Driving through a puddle and splashing someone may be treated as driving without reasonable consideration for other road users. So please think twice before accelerating through that puddle!

Whether you’re driving, walking or cycling, a little consideration for one another goes a long way in making Tiptree a safer and friendlier place for everyone. 😊

🍂🦔 Hello Autumn from Tiptree Parish Council! 🎃

As the leaves turn golden and the weather gets cooler, our prickly little friends, the hedgehogs, are getting ready for the colder months ahead. ❤️

Did you know that hedgehogs hibernate during winter? They need safe, cosy places to rest, so there are a few simple things we can all do to help them this autumn:

🍁 Leave a little wild corner a pile of leaves, logs or twigs can make a perfect hiding place.

🦔 Check before you tidy hedgehogs may be sheltering in leaf piles, compost heaps or under garden waste.

💧 Put out fresh water a shallow dish of water can make a real difference.

🚫 Avoid garden chemicals these can harm hedgehogs and the insects they rely on for food.

🏡 Make room for wildlife a small gap in your garden fence can help hedgehogs move between gardens to find food and shelter.

Every little action helps support our local wildlife and keep Tiptree a welcoming place for nature. 🌿

Let's give our prickly neighbours a helping hand this autumn! 🧡

🇬🇧 REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED 🇬🇧

📅 Sunday 8th November 2026
⏰ Road closure: approximately 14:00–15:15

Could you help us keep everyone safe on Remembrance Sunday?

We are looking for volunteers to help marshal the road closures around the War Memorial. We need at least two people at each junction to help make the arrangements safe and effective.

🚧 What would you be doing?

Putting out the barriers at the correct time
Talking to and assisting motorists with directions
Removing the barriers once the event has finished
Helping to keep the area around the War Memorial safe
All equipment will be provided at a location close to your junction and will need to be returned there afterwards.

📋 Don't worry if you've never done this before!
You will receive written instructions in advance explaining what to do and when, giving you plenty of opportunity to familiarise yourself with the procedure and ask any questions.

On the day, you will also have a copy of the Traffic Order, diversion map and instructions.

📍 Volunteer locations:

🇬🇧 The War Memorial
🚦 Church Road / New Road junction
🚦 New Road / Chapel Road junction
🚦 Station Road / Anchor Road junction
👀 EXTRA HELP NEEDED AT THE WAR MEMORIAL

We are also looking for at least two additional volunteers at the War Memorial.

This role does not involve lifting or traffic control. Instead, you will help keep an eye on the crowd and ensure people remain safely on the pavement, particularly when their attention is focused on the service.

Your help will be greatly appreciated in making sure everyone can take part in the service safely and respectfully.

🚌 COMMUNITY TRANSPORT SURVEY – YOUR VIEWS MATTER! 🚌

Essex County Council has extended the Community Transport Survey until 30 October 2026, giving residents more time to have their say.

Whether you use Community Transport, volunteer, provide support, care for someone who uses these services, or are simply interested in what is available locally, Essex County Council would like to hear from you.

The survey is looking at:

🔹 How residents use Community Transport services
🔹 Awareness of services available locally
🔹 Experiences and satisfaction with services
🔹 Barriers that may prevent people from accessing transport
🔹 Unmet transport needs
🔹 The wider impact Community Transport has on independence and wellbeing

🌡️ Heating Oil Support Available This Winter

Good afternoon Tiptree residents 👋

If you use heating oil as your main source of heating and are worried about the cost of keeping your home warm this winter, you may be eligible for support through the Crisis and Resilience Fund.

With many rural households relying on heating oil and household costs continuing to put pressure on family finances, eligible residents are encouraged to seek support early.

💷 Support may be available towards the cost of heating oil, following an assessment of your household's financial circumstances.

🏠 The Crisis and Resilience Fund can also provide support with essential household costs such as:

Heating oil and energy 🔥
Food 🥫
Water 💧
Housing costs 🏠
Other essential household expenses

If you think you may be eligible, please contact the service well before your usual heating oil purchase date, allowing time for your application to be assessed and fuel to be ordered and delivered.
